I have one and I love it. I didn't want the cord hanging down so I went with the Solo S2. It is rated way up there with the 8500 X50 by "Radar Roy".

I keep a spare pair of batteries in the glove box but they seem to last around a month and a half or so.

it looks good..but its not really that new. i have seen and read bout it long ago..

anyways, its cool that its cordless, it's got good reviews and its cheaper than V1.
the thing is that im wondering if they have those small displays like V1...which means we'll NOT have to stick the detector on the windshield. instead, we can put it somewhere that can not be seen and just have a small display somewhere?
if uall know what im talking bout!

the reason i worry is that i live in VA (yeah yeah, one of the only 2 or 3 states that is illegal using radar detectors)... so i can not put my detector on the windshield. anyone has good ideas on what u do?

anyone from VA or DC area that has a solution to this problem?

Put it on the tint strip in the driver's side in the corner. It can't be seen from the outside if you have a remote display. Of course, make sure you have a power cut-off switch somewhere just in case a cop is around.

SOlo2 is ok, but not that great. I had 8500 and then solo2 now i'm back to 8500. Reason is, solo2 doesnt have that much power as oppose to 8500 or 8500 x50. Those 2AA batt. can not provide it with that much power that a cig lighter can.

Plus i seen tests where they still rate 8500 better then solo2.

Love my Solo 2!

This is my second Escort cordless and it constantly saves my butt. It also came with a "Smartcord" that plugs into the lighter for backup and low battery situation. My brother has a V-1 in his NSX, but is sure makes a lot of racket with false signals. Out of the 3 Escorts (old Cincinnati Microwave?) I have owned, the Solo 2 is my favorite. I think you will be happy with it if you are a relatively attentive driver.

Who's "they?"

I'm partial to V1 because of the arrows that allow me to find where radar is coming from. I have it hardwired so I'm not worried about dangling wires.

I love my V1. I still haven't seen solid data from an unbiased source that can make me buy something different.

I am partial to my V1, but along with the conceiled display, I can always get my detector upgraded as new technology emerges, so mine never becomes obsolete, like others do.... that is the main reason I have a V1. It may cost a little more, but well woth it. It has not let me down once, and I drive like 30,000 miles a year.

I have used the S2 for a year and it meets my needs quite well. It falses less than any detector I've ever had including previous Escorts/Passports.

If you get one you may want to invest in some rechargeable batteries. Two AAs last about a month in mine, that's about twenty hours of use for me.

I agree. Alot of the online sites that test these detectors have a sister site that sells the products. V1s aren't distrubuted to dealer so it's easy to see why they don't fare well on those tests. I've had a BEL980 before my V1 and I loved it but from the old tests, they said it was a ton better than the v1...which I believed. After going to a V1, I can truly say it's a great piece and the arrows, counter, are very helpful.
