Why rush the purchase? And why buy an A/T when you want a 6M/T?

Sounds like you need to rethink your purchase and start over while you can still return the ride.

If you really like the ride with the Auto. then best of luck to you. I know I loved mine. But if you're in any doubt, go back and wait for the ride you really want.

So, I test drove the 6mt coupe, and I really had some fun and it was exhilrating, however I really couldnt get past the nasty colored dash and color coordination. So then I test drove a diamond graphite/stone coupe in an automatic, and I fell in love with the interior and outside color as well. The ivory pearl/wheat was the only 6mt they had so it was either that or the automatics. The dealership was closing and my decision had to be made as I was supposed to bring home a car tonight. There was so much pressure I didnt know what to do. So finally, I decided on the auto, and I drove home really disappointed about the fact that it was an auto, but I still think I love this car. I hope I did the right thing, picking the one that I did. With all that said i will be enjoying my new G, and I cant stop looking at it. What do yall think?
same exact thing that happened to me

you will not be dissapointed at all!

Can you explain/expand on that comment Randy.
I'm waiting to be able to order a V35 from Japan and was intending to get the 6MT and install FI.
Is there an advantage to 5AT in a supercharged Coupe?
Cheers

Automatics handle boost more effiiciently because the throttle plate is open more frequently and WOT is more common thus utilizing more power throughout the powerband. Please note that I said "utilizing" and not "producing". Please don't misunderstand that a FI A/T produces more power than a FI M/T because it doesn't. Which one is faster? That depends on the driver.

A main point to stress is that the transmission, mainly the torque convertor, suffers severly when adding major power. When people add boost they think of beefing up interior engine components, but forget about the transmission. In automatics, the torque convertor is the heart of the transmission and can only handle so much power being added. Not sure about the G35, but many smaller engine imports (i.e. Hondas) and big block engines (i.e. Chevys and Fords) have high performance torque convertors that were created for this purpose.

But many will argue that they just can't see building up an automatic. That's up to you to decide.

Adding 100HP or so to your G would suddenly make the AT very liveable, IMO. Once you get enough power, an auto can actually be much more enjoyable. You take out driver error and get consistent shifts all day long... ...all while keeping a hand and foot free... ...for whatever your needs.

There is also something about the seemingly continuous forward rush you get in a boosted, hi-HP, AT-equiped car. *blast off*

If the G came with 400HP, boosted or not, the AT would have been a lot more attractive to me. But I they didn't, and I have no plans to boost this one, so the 300HP 6MT serves me better.

The 5AT is one of the best automatic tranny's out there. You will love it; don't get caught up in the "stigma" of driving an automatic.
