What do you tell people when they ask "The question"? You know which one I'm talking about..."Is that really a Skyline"? I'm just curious, because I get that question alot and I always feel like these people really don't know that they're the same car, just different names.
Some get it, some don't. Some assume that I imported it from Japan. I've even got a couple of kids saying, "why are trying to trick everyone"? I simply told them, I'm not trying to trick everyone, I'm trying to educate everyone that they're the same car. After talking a little more, I realized they were thinking of the R series Skylines.
At first it was cool, but sometimes it gets annoying. Almost everywhere I go, I get someone asking. I'm starting to wonder if my car would get the same attention if I didn't go JDM.

The most common question I was getting when I had the JDM badges was:
"Say... is that a special edition?"
I had two options: tell the truth, or...
...
well, I figured since I already spent money on those badges, I might as well enjoy them. Guess what my answer was...

man, i dont even have them and my cousins ask me what the heck am i thinking...?? lol
i could already imagine it when i do get the badges lol
either way, i figure once i get annoyed by the questions, ill just tell them that the car is really a skyline :P instead of going through the whole process of telling them and what not, either way, they wont really understand hahaha

I got it all the time on my 04 G. I just told them that the car was manufactured by Nissan and it's real name is a Nissan Skyline 350GT. But in America it is under the Infiniti Branch with the name G35 (the 35 standing for the 3.5 Liter engine)
Well if it was a real Skyline you'd be driving from the passengers seat
I'm going to import a Skyline from Japan as soon as I can get it licensed in Australia.
Funny thing is I wouldn't mind putting Infiniti badges on it to make it a bit different.
Cheers

G your car looks sooo good.
I think that's the colour and wheel combo for me.
Only seen a red and blue one in the metal so far and they didn't really appeal to me.
Is it a nice type of Pearl? Some Pearls look great while others look dirty cream sort of colour.
If it is close to the Liberty (Legacy?) pearl white I'd be happy.

Well I noticed a couple of you said when you "had" them on before, does that mean past tense? If so, what happened and why? Did you re-rebadge back to USDM or just wanted something different?
AussieV35 - Thanks for the compliments, and as far as the pearl, sometimes I wish it was a tad whiter to go with the chrome rims. Only in a certain lighting do I think it looks really good with silver rims.
Why are you thinking of importing from Japan? I thought they made Skylines there? Why not just import a G35?

So now I have nothing on the trunk - completely debagged and I actually like it better than any other badging combinations. Nice and clean.
I'm in the process but I've changed my plans a bit. My plans, for practical reasons, were to downplay the Infiniti brand to avoid raising eyebrows among some of our clients who would base their opinion on the Infiniti emblems alone.
Now I've decided against badging it a Nissan. I'm replacing the grill with a Gialla but no longer plan to put a Nissan emblem in it. I never planned to stick the Nissan emblem on the rear after removing the Mt. Fuji so it will still just have the Skyline and 350GT emblems. I'm just going for a little more obscure look on the exterior. No plans to change anything inside.

Nissan Australia after some bad decisions pulled out of manufacturing here in about 1996 and became an importer.
Other than importing 100 R32 GTR's in 1994 they have never sold Skylines here yet 15 years after it becoming officially unavailable here it remains their most recognised and popular model .
You think Nissan Aust would take the hint !!
The R32,33 and 34's here are all imported and complied here by private companies under the SEVS (Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicle Scheme) despite complaints from the car companies here (mainly Toyota).
These companies are currently working through all the government red tape to allow the V35 to be sold here under this scheme.
Should only be 4-8 weeks now hopefully then I can search the Japanese Auctions for what I want ,see link

Rebadging gets old after a while. I went to a meet on Sat. and there were a bunch of Lexus Soarer's (aka SC series) with the griffin emblem on the front, JDM corners and the whole 9.. also a bunch of IS300's with Altezza logos and RSX's rebadged to Hondas. The funny thing is, I too asked if the Soarer was the JDM edition or something
