There I was just passing an open bed pickup on the NY Thruway that had stuff hanging out of the bed when I got nailed for doing 81 in a 55. She didn't give me an inch and wrote it up for 81. My record until today was spotless. Any suggestions as to how I should handle this. I live in NJ. I was making the pass because I was afraid something would fall out of the truck. It all happened so fast.

 

Quote me if I'm wrong but don't they issue points if you're found guilty in your own state? Otherwise you just pay for the ticke $$$.

But if not, you can plead not guilty and the prosecutor will deduct points, roughly 1 or 2. I've been caught speeding many times and it sucks to goto the court and wait for hours... and I mean hours!

 

Hrm.. I thought points from NJ to NY don't transfer and points from NY to NJ DO transfer... someone correct me if I am wrong...

 

You are correct... the points will transfer over to NJ even though you get it in NY. Sucks, jersey insurance is bad enough as it is.
