Nope. The Nismo logo is tack-welded on, just like that. And judging from the rough look of them, you got the genuine article. My looked nearly identical, rough welds, flange and all.

FWIW, I sent mine to Jet Hot Coatings for their JetHot2000 coating in flat black. The "eggshell/gritty" texture isn't nearly as rough as they made it sound. Eggshell is more appropriate. The inside is also coated with their normal, interior ceramic coating. It was about $250, insured UPS shipping included (You wouldn't ship those puppies without insurance, would you?!). The JH2K coating really smoothed out the welds, etc., giving my Nismo headers a much higher-quality look.

As a bonus: Before sending them to Jet Hot, I noticed a tiny, pin-hole in one of the welds. It probably didn't go all the way through and was just a shallow pin-hole in the weld, but the JH2K filled that hole in as well as smoothing out the rest of the piece. Worth the money in looks alone, IMO, but I also have to take heat reduction seriously out here in West Texas.

Again, the welds and flange looks the same, as far as I can tell from the pics. The Nismo logo could be tacked on any set of headers, but these look similar to mine in several regards. I was a little suprised at the rough look of mine, considering the cost. I think it's safe for you to feel comfortable that you got the real deal.

I almost ordered those exact ones from ebay myself. The price really surprised me but seeing as how they were sold by someone from an Infiniti dealer put my mind a little at ease. However those welds look kind of cheap for such an expensive product. Let us know how it turns out, I might try and see if I can get myself a set from them as well.

That is a really good price! And the welds look ok in person, in terms of a reasonable bead, etc., it's just that they aren't smoothed and the headers aren't polished up any, such as you might expect from a $1000 set of headers.

They definately come across as performance headers rather than the polished, show-style ones. But if you're thinking of coating them, the looks really don't matter in the end anyway.

Those are the real deal! Tag welded NISMO logo, just like so. They do look "rough" around the edges, but they are what they are. If you're installing them yourself, HAVE FUN!

was it new in box like the auction says?

if the fit and finish is good, I doubt there are any real worries. i.e., the holes match up, and the bolts aren't for a civic type-LX, and the inside finish of the headers don't look like those found on bent pipes for your toilet.

If it was indeed, in a box, it should have nismo/nissan whatever on it, and a small sticker with part number or something similar.

If you're REALLY worried, email nismo a pic of your header in high res, and ask for verification. They, of all people, should be able to tell. assuming they repond.

Good luck in any case.
