An intake and headers will not be compatible with a turbo.

If you go s/c the only system that you can use the intake with is stillen.

IMO either get a turbo kit with a full rebuild and a good tune or don't waste your time. But even then, prepare for headaches. Not to say 400rwhp isn't cool, but there can still be faster hondas, I used to own a fully built turbo honda making 380whp and 320tq. It was quick on the go but it lacked traction and came with a lot of headaches. I traded it in for a G for the comfort not speed.

To the original poster, sorry that you had to learn a quick lesson about power to weight ratio, but take solice in the fact that you have a much nicer, reliable, comfortable, better stopping/handling, sport/luxury car... I actually built the type of civic that is the topic of this thread. I just recently sold it to pay for the closing costs on my new house being built....and I'll have my new G in september.

but as far as tearing down a G to do a full build / turbo set up, honestly you'd probably be better off keeping it a little more simple. If you were actually going to take the car to the track alot, or just want more power..that's fine, but I wouldn't focus on building it so that you can go back and smoke the little turbo civics. Even if you hit 500-600 whp in the G, a well built turbo civic with only 400whp would roast you...It's just the laws of physics. But at the end of the day, i'd rather have a cleanly done mild G35 thats comfortable and reliable. Which is another reason I sold my project car.

here are a few pics of my ride. If you see another civic with a big intercooler in the front bumper, you'd probably be better off just ignoring him, hehe... Trust me, i know from first hand experience, he might smoke you, but as he drives off...he's wishing he had your sexy car. oh wait that's me? hahah... gawd, i can't wait till september!

Also where does it end, he prob has guys in bikes blowing by him. I'd rather drive around in my "slow" G35 than in a "fast" civic anyday.
point well taken....

SuperCharge it !!!

Why does everyone start out with ......... " I don't race my car " " I don't street race " and go on to relate a story about how they got thier butt handed to them on the street. If I could, I would race it ( at the track ).

Anyways ....... I would go with a Vortech for some extra HP and still a GOOD daily driver. Don't waste you $$$ on a few MODs ( $2,000 to $3,000 ) when you can get a Vortech for around $4,500 and then install cost, u r more then half way there.

What WhyJay91 said^^^^.

I have a neighbour who has a civic that'll turn 12's in the quarter, but it's no G.......
Our G's have so much more, and altho not as quick, they're not that slow either.

Enjoy your G. It's so much more that going fast.
C.

People do underestimate civics. STOCK civics old and new are slow as hell, and we would have no trouble absolutely crushing them, but they are very mod friendly cars, and can be modded with extremely cheap parts that will be more beneficial when compared to even more expensive mods that came be done to our G35s.

The G35 is a "fast" car. I think its one fatal flaw however, IS the weight. It is a heavy car. I feel the G handles superb, and thats not the issue, but I wish it were a bit lighter, and it could pull some much faster times. But hey, I am still very happy with the car.

So when you approach a modded out civic next time, make sure its a stock or fart-canned civic and not a turboed, engine swapped civic.

Thanks for sharing your point of view and experience...I guess I just had a hard time being humbled by a Civic this morning. Mighty impressive numbers on yours, by the way!
I used to have a Civic EX not too long ago; completely stock, and I remember wondering why people would put money into a civic to make it fast when the starting point was just over 100 hp! I guess I should have thought about the weight of the car as well.

I probably will get a supercharger on my G...I realized today that I really miss having more power...trust me though, I won't do it to mess with Civics. I do love my car; I just have to realize that it LOOKS a lot faster than it really is.

This is my first experience with this Forum and I have to say, this is pretty civilized. I would have gotten roasted pretty bad on the R1 forum had a posted a story about being beaten by say a Katana! Thanks to all for all the input.

Hmmm...a lesson learned. I am afraid that if you drive a "g" to compete on the street you bought the wrong car. There are plenty of platforms out there for the same or less money that will blow the doors of my car. As was stated before it is a simple simple power to weight ratio. But then again, I didn't buy my car intending to street race. I really don't care how soon you can get to the next stop light before me.

HA, if you got beat by a can-a-tuna, i'd rag on you too! hehe just kidding. well, hey your bike will run circles around mine, and power up very easily in 3rd gear, hehehe.. who needs a super fast car, when you have a bike??

what color is your R1? I think a DG coupe and a titanium R1 would be the sh*t! hmmmmm

actually, laughing would be a good way to handle it too... why waste the gas, heheh. Don't fall prey to the ricer rev. Actually, all the people I know that have really FAST cars, not specifially hondas, but just seriously fast, like a turbo z06 or turbo ls1 firebird, never instigate a race. They have nothing to prove, because they already know there car hauls ***. Once you get into the 500+ whp range, hopefully people have the maturity to know when and where to use it. Then again, like you said, we're all human, and it's hard to back down from a challenge, hehee.. After having enough speeding tickets though, you learn that it's not worth it.

And i have to agree with what was previously said. You can make any car fast, it's just a matter of money. But, honestly, in my opinion, you'd be hard pressed to make any car look better than a G. It's like comparing Pamela Anderson to Catherine zeta jones.... Pamela is highly modified and fast, lol, but i'll take beauty and class any day.
