Blown by Civic...please help

Okay, so on my way to work this morning, this kid in a Civic hatchback comes up next to me and gives me a couple of revs. Normally I don't waste my time, but for some reason this morning I just felt the urge. So we both get on it pretty hard (I thought) and I found myself doing about 125 when I look to my side and this kid completely blew by me! I couldn't believe what I was seeing...

I'm assuming that he sprayed nitrous at some point to get that kind of gain at that speed, but for crying out loud; I never really had that much on him to begin with.

I've had my G since November, and it is bone stock...completely bone stock. I bought this car and I promised myself that I wouldn't spend money modifying it. I got rid of my moderately-heavily modified Yamaha R1 after wrecking it and realizing that I needed a break from bikes...this car was supposed to be my "pacifier" toy to keep me from crying about not having a bike, but my ego is hurt now...I need a good speed fix!

So help me out...what performance mods would you recommend working with a $2,000 - $3,000 budget? In the future I'd like to go turbo, but I'm not sure nor prepared to spend $6k on that right now.

Please help...I can't let that crap happen again!

This happens a lot to cars like ours......its called Power-to-Weight Ratio.

These Civics are featherwieghts compared to our cars, and if theyve got some decent mods done (engine swaps, SC, turbos, NOS) then its not even close....even so N/A four bangers that are decently modded will beat the G every time....

Just feel good that your sittin on leather (heated) seats, listening to a nice BOSE system, and cruising in one of the best lookin cars on the road.

.......or just get a Turbo!

Mods

Turbo is the way to go, but if you want some minimal gains for less money than, I guess exhaust and intake.

Dude, desperate is not even the word!

Like I said, I wasn't planning on modifying this car, but I'm feeling the need to right now.

Just out of curiosity, any recommendations on exhaust/intakes? I don't know much about car performance; I've been a bike guy all my life.

leather seats, bose audio, and great looks aren't paying the ego bill right now. If I get the turbo now, my girlfriend is just going to have to wait a bit longer for that ring she's expecting...decisions, decisions!

If she loves you she'll understand and wait. lol. A turbo hatch is FAST. They will smoke just about anything including vipers. Check into Cheesefrog and TeamRice. Theres a hatch with a b18c turbo puttin out like 400whp and those cars are very light. I want one lol

Any NA civic, original motor, with bolt-ons should not take you without NOS. What's hilarious is that this point, if you can call it that, was even brought up. Probably an engine swap and spray.

A buddy of mine had a 92 civic with a vtec integra motor supercharged. That thing was faster than any car I've experienced. And yes, it was fast, but was still a cruddy looking eco-golf cart with cheap plastic.

yeah mang, watch out for modded civics and especially those small Neon SRT-4's.. Those fuggers are quick!!!

It sucks, I know, but a modded civic pushing 200rwhp (or so), will spank our G's.. It's that Power-to-Weight ratio - PearlCoupe eluded to...

You gotta ask yourself, "did I get the G to race ricers or did I get a G for its refinement, class and good looks.."

Just make a new rule for yourself. Don't race civics. Because if you win, you were supposed to. But if you lose....

Also where does it end, he prob has guys in bikes blowing by him. I'd rather drive around in my "slow" G35 than in a "fast" civic anyday.

I feel your pain man, the other night coming home from playing basketball, I figured I would screw around with a Neon, just to see how long I could hang. Wasn't even close but once I caught up at the stop light, he told me he would still rather have my car.
