no comparison.....the z06 is a pure sports car...the g35 is a luxury sport coupe. i have had both. i miss my z06. the g35 does have a nicer interior, but it still isn't as nice as it should be. the z06 has a $h!tty interior, but handling and performace is no comparison z wins hands down. tough call depends what you are looking for, but if you like performance and don't need back seats get the z...if you need back seats and want a daily driver, then go g.

I'll throw my $.02 in since I've been driving pretty much nothing but a C5 for the last 3 1/2 years. The interior of the C5 Corvette isn't bad but of course it doesn't stack up to a luxury car. When you buy a Vette, you don't buy it for the interior. My Vettes have all been very comfortable, even on long road trips. One problem with the Z06 is that it doesn't come with the sport seats that you can get on the coupe and convertible. They're a big improvement over the standard and Z06 seats. My Vettes ('00 Convertible, '01 Coupe and '04 Convertible) were all daily drivers and I loved every mile. Simply put, they're awesome cars to drive. You can't compare the performance of a Vette, let alone a Z06 with the G35 Coupe. They're not in the same class.

That being said, my Vette is currently being sold and I just picked up an '05 Lakeshore Slate G35 Coupe with the Sport Tuned Suspension last night to replace it. After moving from CA to MO two months ago, I now need something that I can drive year round. I also need a back seat for when I need to take my 2 year old with me. For that, the G35 Coupe is perfect and I'm loving the car.

I actually think both of the cars being compared are the best in its class. Best sports car for the money is the Z06, I may be biased because I own one but I always thought that the G35 coupe was the best all around car for the money. In other words I wont be upset if my coupe was replaced with a z06. Just wait when I hit this weeks big game lotto for 140mill+ ill just buy every cool toy and review them for you guys

Apparently you haven't come across posts like "omg got smoked by a [insert car raced here]", "is [said car] that much faster than a G?", "how can I make my G faster than [said car]?". There is an entire modification forum on here, as well as a drag racing and forced induction one... there must be some people who care...

Sure, its comfortable but after long hour trips in it, my back can hurt a little.. I drove the G for almost 4 hours straight, and I was still very comfortable. The interior in the vette is awful. I'm mainly talking about the quality of it too. Granted, I have 55,000 miles on mine, but there is no excuse for how much is rattling and falling apart.
Ok, so I went to the dealer today and drove a c5 6 speed (they didn't have a z06 in stock). Things that impressed me:
The ride on 17" (fr) and 18" (r) was bumpier than my car on 19"
The stock shifter sucks compared to the G
The shifts are MUCH smoother than the G.. the 1-2nd in the G is a PITA in comparison. It can chirp 2nd very nicely at 3-4k rpm without much effort
Very long gears.. I didn't need to use 5th gear until I got on the highway
Yes it did have some annoying rattles coming from the dash
It had the sport seats and the leather and interior were immaculate for a 3 year old car, so it depends on how the car was maintained
The torque was incredible, even a regular c5 will put the G to shame.
Overall, after driving a Vette I don't regret getting the G for a minute, and I would love to pick up a slightly used c6 Z06 in a couple of years. 3.7s 0-60, 11.4s 1/4 mile, and it looks like an exotic.

Yup, it is a bit of a bumpy ride. Can't comment on the transmissions, since my G is an auto, and my vette is a manual, but I love hopping into the G after the Vette, feels much much smoother, and is a much more comfortable ride. You can feel the power loss, but the G is still fast enough for me.

And yes the C6 Z06 is hot

i am another who has actually owned both a z06 and a G35 coupe. it is very difficult to compare the two, pure sports car to luxury/sport coupe. two very different types of vehicles, what it boils down to is what you are wanting out of the car. if all out performance is what you want, then hands down, go for the vette......but if you want something more practical, then the g is for you. build quality will of course be better in the g35, which is part of the reason i got rid of my z06 (damn gm), but in retrospect, i mildly regret dumping the z06 for the g.....the g just doesnt have enough power.....

I have an 02 Z06 and a 04 G35 coupe 6mt. They are not compariable at any level. The G's driver's seat is uncomfortable driving and painful afterwards. Before the LPE S/C and 525 rwhp on my Z, bone stock was way too much for the G.

My 65 year old aunt has a 2003 ZO6. I've driven it a couple of times and that car is just ridiculously fast. It's embarrasing to have my aunt who is 30 years older than me, blow the doors off me in my G35. The interior of the ZO6 is very cheap and plasticky, no better than a Dodge Neon rental car. However, as soon as you step on the gas you tend to forget all of that. The sound of the engine is menacing as well. You really can't compare the two. The G35 is a GT, the ZO6 is pure sports car.
