Do you lose power with a POP CHARGER?
You lose power because your stock airbox is already an almost perfect design as far as airflow is concerned. As explained in another thread, the JWT just soaks in the hot air from your engine bay despite the so-called heatshield. Especially on hot summer days, people have reported a hesitation at idle. Why do so many people buy it, because it sounds great, looks great (subjective) and the price is right compared to any other intake out there.
This is with my current mods:
Took the popcharger off to clean it. For the hell of it, put the stock airbox on. Drove it for about a week. Low end response was better than the popcharger. Higher than 4k was a different story, the rpms climbed slower than when I had the popcharger on.
The Popcharger seems to benefit the upper range of the rpm IMO.

There is definitely some power gain with the pop-charger. But it does seem to be up high. I went head to head with another 6MT at a drag strip repeatedly. He only had the pop-charger. Once we hit 4th gear approaching the finish line, I could see him ever so slightly inching forward. The rest of the time we were neck and neck, so there is something extra on the high end. Don't know about the low end.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Its part # 33-2031-2 according to autozone.com
I've seen enough dynos to convince me that the Pop Charger does make power. However, it is not very effective in staying cool. I run the stock air box and K&N in the spring/summer and the pop charger in the fall/winter.

Got your a$$ whooped, heh? LMAO

Just messing with ya...
I didn't notice any loss of power. Then again, it was hard to compare the before (ecu learned) to the after (post ecu relearned)
