7500 Mile Service $65 at Nissan Dealer!

I called Nissan and they do the exact same service for $65 instead of $170 at Infiniti dealer. I'm still not clear if they really do anything besides the oil change but they say they clean and adjust the brakes which I never heard of brakes needing adjustment, balance tires, inspect, blah blah blah. I know I'll get flames for this but at least I'll have record that the service was done for the future if any problems occur.

No need for anything besides an oil change at 7500 besdies any warranty work or anything (I had to have my sunroof sqeek fixed) -- Nothing major is until 15,000 miles.

No flames from here. That sounds like a good deal. Go for it.

The brake work involves lubricating the calliper pins, pivot points, and backing plate. It's good to keep them from corroding and seizing, especially in the winter belt states and Canada.

Sounds like a good deal. But if there was a warranty issue, do you think Infiniti would honor it? (yes, I know Nissan = Infiniti)

I don't mind paying as long as I get something in return and yes I think Infiniti will honor warranty work since it is the same setup under the skin. That is why I want it done in the first place, in case something happens to any of these parts in the future.

Dang. They don't even do that brake stuff at the local Infiniti.

No one does what they claim they do. I bet all they do is oil and filter, adjust tire pressure and top off fluids.

Good question.....I'm not sure if Infiniti will give you guys any static down in the States, but I found out that Nissan can do anything but warranty work for us up here in Canada. Meaning Nissan can work on your ride, do maintenance etc but no warranty. This comfirms that you are doing the required maintenance which then validates your warranty.

What a difference, but $170 is a lot!! I just looked at my service order and my 7,500 mile service was $120 in Boston.

It's amazing how the prices vary for the same service. Nationwide Infiniti in MD charges the following: 7500 service- $89.95; 15,000 service - $189.95; and 30,000 service - $529.95. They of course will provide an Infiniti loaner and will hand wash and vacuum your car for that price. Also, the dealer is always issuing service coupons with discounts in the 10% to 20% range.

When I had my Porsche serviced, I couldn't get anything done for under $200 and the jerks would run my car through their car wash and then air dry it. So my car always had water spots when I got it back. I had to specifically tell them not to wash my car.

It's interesting that you can get your Infiniti serviced by Nissan service. When I owned a Lexus, Toyota was srtictly prohibited from servicing a Lexus. The Toyota dealer was very convenient to me, whereas the Lexus dealer was 45 minutes away. BTW I wouldn't worry about the warranty issue. As long as you are getting your car services according to their recommendations, you'll be fine.
