NEW VQ45 Coupe???
I just received the "Total Ownership" package in the mail today, and there was a flyer that showed a picture of a new coupe with another picture of a V8 4.5 liter engine cover. It was in the "Genuine Infiniti Service and Parts" postcard. I wonder if it means that there's going to be a VQ45 G35 Coupe, 'cause that would be SWEEEET!!! Anyone got this, and think otherwise?

They're just marketing the brand. I can't tell you how many M, FX, and Q brochures Infiniti mailed home to me after I requested a G35 brochure. The coupe pic is to relate to the car you just bought ... but the 4.5 V8 is just showing off what else is in the Infiniti stable.
I doubt they would release a 4.5L V8 GCoupe when the GT-R is two years away. So let's say they did ... A G45 would be well into the $45-50,000 range. It would have AT LEAST 350hp in our application (340 in the Q, 335 in the M). For fun, let's say 350-70 ... an additional 50-70hp for an additional 1.0L of displacement. Makes it a little harder to justify an additional $20,000 for the 450-hp GT-R, esp in the US. And here in the US, the rich old men who have that money are going to go for V8 smoothness vs the psshhhhttt and headaches of turbos.
But doesn't mean I wouldn't trade my car in for a G45 ... and then again for a GT-R

a 360hp G45 would put down around 295hp at the wheels.... which would only be 5-15hp more than the m3, with fewer rpms, albeit a lot more torque (probably 40+lbft more) so the powerband would be very different.
such a car would probably do low 13s at around 108mph on the 1320'...not that much better than the current m3, but much better than the current g35. it would be a drivers race with cars like the srt8.
with that kind of power, brembos would be a very good idea, as would an improved suspension...it would be critical for nissan to keep the weight below 3500lbs though... 3,300lbs would be sweet..
