Out of curiosity, What are your opinions on cars that hold value?

I know I bought a 1978 CJ in 1994 for $2500, ran the crap out of it for 5 years and sold it for $4000. With the only real money going towards Maintenance. The value of 3rd gen RX7's still seem to be up there. What other cars do you know about?

How is a tC on that list? I think it might do better than the average car, but certainly not 10 best.

Just remember that 99.999999% of cars go down in value. Where the value is the fair market value. You can always get a deal on a used car, use it and then sell it for more than you paid. But if you pay FMV for a car, it will go down in value unless it is very rare.

All the cars on the list will go lose 35% of their value in 3-4 years instead of the standard 40% most cars lose. They are by no means a good investment.

i dont this thats the same as value, thats residual value its diffrent when you lease car a car usually has a residual value number at the end of the lase, im sure a LEXUS LS 430 holds better value than a BMW 7

When you consider that the first three cars on the list sell near or over sticker, I'd say the G35 is tops in value retention. One more reason to make G35 owners smile.

Predictive residual values are just like the Book maker's setting the spread on a football game. Many factors have to be considered as referenced in the article, especially the model's cycle stage, demand, and economic conditions. (New/redesigned models and hybrids abound). Also like the spread, the predicted residual value itself moves the line by attracting more buyers with the value/affordability, thus increasing demand. Kelley may or may not be good at it, but the fact is, they are correct because they say they are. Most buyers these days will consult a Blue book or Edmunds type service to determine what is fair value. Leases are based on it as well as insurance reimbersement for a totalled car.

S2000?? No it doesn't. It's an impractical 2seater convertable. I've seen
several 2-3 year old models on the market for a good price.
