Am I crazy??? PLEASE HELP!!

I was at my Infiniti dealer today for service (I have an '03 6m/t coupe), and while waiting for my car I strolled through the showroom with my 9 year-old son. We looked at the new G coupe, the new M sedan, but then saw a '05 Q45 with that gorgeous firebrick leather interior, wood inlays, all kinds of technological features, a 300 watt stereo with Sirius, and of course, the 340hp V8. It's a beautiful car, and despite the unnatural love I have for my 6m/t coupe, I found myself unexpectedly attracted to this Q. What makes the attraction particularly worrisome is that they have a sign on it saying you could have this new $57K Q for $47K. For goodness sakes, a loaded BMW 3-series can run you $47K! At $47K, it's $5K less than the M45, and the Q is clearly a cut above the M in the luxury department. And that's before I even try to deal! Salesguy says they are trying to clear them out, that the rear drive Q is not as desired, and that a new model is coming out next year. I find myself tempted to go back to Infiniti tomorrow to test drive this car. It seems like a steal to me, like the old M's were before the new M's came out. Only difference is that the Q is a great looking car. To be honest, I have been thinking about moving to an automatic, as I think the stiffness of my clutch pedal has contributed to soreness in my left knee of late (not to mention the fact that I'm going to be 50 this year). So I need my fellow G 6m/t coupe enthusiasts to talk some sense into me- tell me that I'm nuts, I'll never be happy with a boat like that, an automatic transmission takes all the fun out of driving, etc. I also want to know if you've heard anything about the '05 or '04 Q, good or bad. And do you think that at this price I'd be dumb not to at least look into it. I can't believe this is happening to me. PLEASE HELP!!!

yawn on the q, but then again, you have a family...that car just doesn't do it for me. there is also the jada kiss factor, "Why they didn't make the CL6 wit a clutch?"

same thing applies here. why dont they make the q or m series in manual?

I don't know about that, the Q has the same cheap plastic steering wheel controls that came on the 01 Maxima and 02 Altima.. sooo outdated. Take an M out for a test drive at least and compare it to the Q. If money is an issue, think about resale value 2-3 years from now compared to the M. You might be getting a deal now, but the Q is notorious for its bad resale value plus a new model waiting around the corner.. I know each person is different, but I'd take a civic as a daily driver and the G 6MT as a weekend car over a Q45 as my only car, but that's me I just love rowing my own gears. Now if I had to choose between an M45 and a G, that's a totally different story.

I just came home right now from my parent's house and I was testing out my dad's 04 Q that only have 2400 miles on it. His sticker was 56.5K and for it for 46.5K, 10K discount. Invoice is 5K less than the MSRP and there is a 5K rebate to the dealer often. He loves it buy my dad is 51, so I don't know if YOU gonna like it. But since he doesn't pull at all, I just did it for the first time today.
The engine is very very torquey. So fast from the lauch. I think it does 60 in high 5's, but 1/4 in mid 14's. handling is AWFUL. Very heavy but probably better than LS430. It's very quiet and smooth. It's really a boat. It revs pretty smoothly up to about 5500 to 6000RPM and after that, the engine screams but the car doesn't move forward. You don't really need to put it that high because of the abundant torque. Gear is 5 speed and it does have manumatic but not too sporty. Very similar to the one that's found in sedans. No rev-matching.

It looks feels and looks very luxurious. It can't be compared with the quality of our G's. But like Finiti35 said, it does have the same audio control on the steering that came in 01 I30t that my dad had before his Q. But that's the only thing. Italian Leather seat is very soft and the wood is very high quality.

I really like the car and I recommended him because it was a very good deal and also no one has them. And we also didn't want to break the Infinity family tradition thing. But coming from the G, you gonna loose a lot of fun, especially if you are still young.

O, I guess you gonna be 50 this year too huh. Well, I think fifty is still young for one with lil child. I'm 26 right now so my dad is a "tired" 51 year old. For same money I would go with M35 Sport with Premium package. M45 with Premium will be too expensive since there will only be a minimal discount for the new M.

I hope age has nothing to do with it. Your knee discomfort could happen at any age. I'm over 40 and will always want a sporty car. I also like a luxo sedan...that's why we have both. I drive the coupe, my wife the sedan. On weekends when we go out, most of the time it's in the sedan. Plus, I hate the thought of valet guys in my lowered coupe banging the kit over bumps.

Now for the Q. It's one of the best cars out there. Don't know why it doesn't sell well. It has power and great fit and finish. Ride is a little floaty but that's normal for a luxo barge. That can be improved with minor modification anyway. It seems you have a hankering for a luxo sedan and the price is right. I would go for it. Resale value is only important if you're planning to keep the car a very short period of time. Resale won't hurt you too bad if you're getting 10K off the sticker. Do it!

If it was back before M45's were released I would've probably said 'go for it!'
but M45's are much more attractive to me. even the M35's.

I dont know if I would go for the Q.. What if the body style is changed as drastically as the M series was?!

The M35 and 45 is VERY HOT. I love that car. I absolutely LOVE the interior, and the exterior styling. Its incredibly comfortable and comes packed with tons of features. I'd do anything for one. Even comes in an M35X for AWD if you need it. And check out the road tests. The M45 beats out the BMW, Audi, Benz, Acura, Lexus, Jaguar, and the rest. Infiniti is really kicking some serious *** these days.

Keep the "G". You don't want that boat. You are too young. I'm 45 now, for my 50th birthday I want a 2009 Z06. Don't slow down. Take a pill for the pain and go. LOL.

BlueStreak, The Q is a great ride with more accent on luxury than sport, so it would be different than the sporty flavoured G you have now.
If a luxo barge is what you crave, you probably won't do much better than the Q.
If you want it all including great appointments, toys, looks, handling and power, get the M. The difference is well worth it.
C.
