Ticket for front window tints. What to do?
Ticket for front window tints. What to do?
I've used the search function to see what other people did when they received a ticket for the front window tints but did not receive much help. I had a great day today coming back from the mall until I got pulled over by an LPD (Lomita Police Department) officer and received a ticket for having tints on my front window. The officer told me all I had to do was go to court with my tints removed and I wouldn't get charged for the ticket. I would under normal circumstances follow these terms, but considering the fact that the tints costed me money (about $120, front, side, back 15% tints) and getting them removed would be simply a waste. I knew when I got these tints I would get myself into one of these situations sooner or later, but I never figured it would come so soon. What have you guys done when you received a ticket for your tints?
i havn't received a ticket YET ** knock on wood ** on my sedan for limo tint all around. but i already told myself and i tell myself everyday that if i get a ticket, just bite the bullet. i already have backup money to pay to get it removed and put back on after the ticket is signed off because god dammit the car looks pimp with limo tint all around!!! so i guess it's up to you. theres' no way you can get around it. either take it off and live with it or take it off and get your *** back on the edge of life!
by front, do you mean windshield also? or just the two doors' windows?
In either case, depending on your state (and I doubt it makes a difference in this regard), you are pretty much screwed. I dont mean to be "a h8r" as some would describe it, but it seems fairly clear cut to me. The copper noticed you with the tint, wrote you up for it, and you have to do whatever it is he told you to do, unless it involves kittens and tony danza.
It's just a risk. Some people get away with it, some people don't. You just got the dirty end of the rusty, that's all.
good luck, though it doesn't really seem like you have much of a say in this case.

i got a tinted window ticket for my daily car (Toyota Camry). i have limo tint all around and cop gave me a fixing ticket... (thank god)!! well i didn't want to take it off and get it done again so this is what i did... kindda risky tho.. i left the ticket folded so that only the top part (info about your car, yourself, date and etc.) was facing and i left it on top of my dash so that ticket will be absorbing the heat and the sun. i left it there for about 3months gettin extended for more time and after the writing was not clearly readable i took my pop's car with only back part of the car tinted and asked the officer to sign it off.... he asked me wat happened to ticket and i told him i left the ticket on my dash.. blah blah blah.. and he just signed it off... maybe i just got lucky... but not too risky...i don't think

Yeah you're screwed
Seriously... When I was in LA, I never got hassled by LAPD, CHP, etc. (And my friends had limo tint) Always Lomita... One time they gave my room-mate a ticket for speeding.... And get this... He said he, "Heard him speeding"
Options:
1. Risky method: Get someone with a car just like yours, switch license plates, get the ticket signed off.
2. Safe method: Remove the tint
3. Once, I got a tint ticket signed off with the tint still on! I only had 50% tint in the front of the car and 35% in the rear. What I did was opened the window that was on the opposite side of the car to allow the maximum light into the car. Then I drove to the court house, pointed out my car which was all the way on the opposite side of the parking lot, the officer took one look and signed it off. With the window open on the opposite side it really did look like there wasn't any tint on the car plus 50% is fairly light anyway so I got away with it.
