6mt ok for Chicago?
I would really like to get a 6mt, but worried it may not fare so well in crappy weather, even with snow tires. I need a car for driving year round (only 1 parking space in the loop). For those in Chicago or similar climates, What do you think is the best choice for year round driving: G356mt, Evomr, WrxSti, or Volvo s40t5? (AWD>RWD>FWD?)
any other suggestions?

Actually AWD>FWD>RWD. You'll be ok with winter tires as long as you don't mind being beaten by neons at a stoplight when there's snow on the ground.
I'd be worried though about parking in the loop. You're car will get molested there.

Fishtaaaail. Get a good set of snow tires and drive conseratively. If that's even a word. G has some great traction breakin torque especially in crappy weather. It's worth sliding around for what the car is though IMO.
i have snow tires on my G for winter and i drive around the Nw Suburbs, or even to downtown or every where in snow and its fine. snow tires have awesome traction, its the best thing ever for winter. just dont drive too hard and you should be fine

For heaven's sakes.. in the last 10 years, there's been like 5-10 snow days in Chicago per season. Sure it's cold, sure the falls can be big, but they are cleared in hours... Daley boy makes sure of that. What you need to worry about, however, is that clearance height. Chicago side streets are pretty slow to be cleared and usually end up with the rail ruts (two tire tracks with snow in the middle). With ou rlow overhangs, you'll be plowing ;D
Otherwise, it's all what YOU'RE used to. I've been driving RWD now for about 15 years. With snows on I can make the car do what I want. If you really want to learn how, do what I did... michelin ice driving school.

Lisle was great. They matched orland's lowest price (which was like $500 over invoice) and threw in a sirius sat radio. All in all, I guess I paid almost invoice with that.
Also, if you are a Costco member, Fletcher is their chicago area dealer for the Costco price. If it's close to you and you are serious, I'd go spend the $50 on a costco membership and go that route. (ask someone with the membership to get the price for you).

Go to Fields Infiniti in Glenview, they have great service. Tax is more expensive downtown!
I got my car @ invoice. If they wont give you that price after 30 minutes of negotiating, walk out. They'll follow you outside or give you a call later to give it to you at invoice.
