Does anyone here use'm on raceday/trackday?

I use pump 100 racegas on trackdays. I'm looking to step up to something like C16. opinions? any setbacks? has anyone gone with leaded race gas in their G35?

I agree. Is your car FI? If not, I'd certainly stay away from leaded and although 100 oct unleaded would be ok, it'd probably wouldn't make the car run much better versus running 93. My friend runs C16...but thats through a ITS76 turbo in a built Supra TT and makes over 700rwhp...

Personally, my Supra was fast enough for me on 93...never mind using 100/104 oct...

I dunno if that guy is FI or not, but higher octane won't do a single thing for you otherwise.. probably ruin performance if anything and give you crappy gas mileage since your plugs won't be able to combust the fuel..

I was hoping he would tell me how it makes his car a lot faster. but since you guys are already posting all this useful and relevant information i figured it's not going to work.

I run it because I dont want to have the car pulling back timing if/when knock occurs. Also because, race gas has higher oxygenation to result in a better and cooler combustion, resulting in more power. to better answer your question, yes...I'd expect it because of those reasons.

I do understand that FI and hi-compression engines will better benefit from leaded race gas. I just wanted to know if anyone else have tried leaded race gas on their cars.

The only thing it will do is give your engine a cleaner burn and mabey a slight increase in performance. I wouldent think its noticable.

Possibly. It may have contributed to knocking .50 off my lap times on our trackday this past weekend.

Okay, not being a jackass, but seirous question here: can you get your car to knock with 93 octane?

I dont know. I dont have an onboard scanner.
even if the there was no knock with 92 (hawaii's highest octane rating), I'd still want to benefit from the acclaimed combustion that race gas has.

Your power from race gas will come from the ability to run more timing. That's it
Gas that has oxygen agents in it can put you on the lean side.

Hmm...or could it be you drove a bit better this past weekend and it wasn't because of your gas?

Fact of the matter is,if your car is not running crazy hot i.e. if there's nothing significantly different than stock, than 93 will be more than enough. If you STILL feel you need more octane, maybe a mix of 93/104 would be more than enough. Ive ALWAYS run my Supra TT on 93. Could I have put in 100 oct and ran higher boost to get faster? Sure. However, this doesn't seem to be the case here. You most certainly won't need C16 but hey, if you think the G35 needs more octane than a modded Supra TT then be my guest.

Then again I guess those civics with 6pucks+extreme pressure plates swear they need those clutches too otherwise their 180hp cars won't be as fast...I think it was the neck-jerking that felt like another 100hp...

LOL i always love reading posts like this or hearing people say it...

All that number means basically is the resistance to detonation, Like a few others have said unless you are running a stupid amount of timing, or boost you have no need for it...AT ALL! If you want a little more snap, go mix some tolune.
