Hood Shocks For $112!
Hey guys, don't know if anyone has seen these or not, but Tein has a set of hood shocks out for the Z and they're selling for around $112 (http://performancenissanparts.com carries them). Although they have not been officially tested on a G, I was informed that a few G owners have made them work on their rides without much effort. From the looks of the image they of the product, I can't see it being that hard either.

When I saw the Top Secret ones I was like, now that's a great idea, but then I saw the price, and was like - who are they kidding??? You serioulsy have to ask yourself, what are they thinking! The long-arm socks they used are no different than the ones you can pick up from your local auto parts store as OEM replacements for between $10 and $20 depending on application (size and force limit). They all having ratings and specs right on the shocks. You can pick and choose what works best for you (if you have an heavy OEM hood or a lite carbon fiber one). The ball-end sockets (what the shocks mount to) can be purchased for roughly $3-$5 a piece, so for a complete set with two shocks you're looking at spending between $32 and $60 (retail), and for the most part you could make it all work with JUST those parts! Thanks to the guys at TS and Tein they have fabbed up some custom brackets to help with the install, but to pay (I wont even mention the TS price as its SCARY!) for their "fabrication" is just insane!
$112 from Tein is a sweet number. I just ordered a set, and will post up how they turn out after I get them in and on my G...

Do they come in something other than green?
Yeah I saw the group buy or whatever, but I'm holding off for now. The price is much better than the $350+ or whatever they were before

Steve, your supposed to be recovering and not modding. LOL
The only problem with the Tein is that you have to either remove or cut the battery cover(s). Someone posted a pic of how they cut their covers, and it didn't look too good! Both you guys have a great fabrication hand so I can't wait to see how yours turn out. I know for me, I just wouldn't want to cut the covers unless it can look very smooth and stock like.

Haven't opened you hood yet??
Well unfortunately our cars don't come with stock shocks for the hood so we ar left with a hood prop! The benefits include not working around the hood prop, cleaner look for showing off engine, and if you are showing your engine outdoors, no ned to worry about a gust of wind slamming your hood down!
The down side is some have reported that these may cause too much stress on our lightweight aluminum hoods. I would have to try it out in person to know if that holds water.

I am trying to talk to a guy local that actually makes better looking ones in BLACK! The Tein ones above you have to take out the battery and brake covers. They look like the wepon R but not as pricey. I will let ya'll know

Well I screwed around with it as much as I could. I think I found a way to get away with not cutting. Im 95% sure it will work. Im going to mess with it tomorrow a bit, as much as I can.
