'05 G35C brake performance
Based on what I've been able to search on this forum, the brembo brakes provided excellent performance but threw off a lot of brake dust. As a prior owner of an Audi TT, I really appreciate the almost non existent brake dust on my G35 wheels. My question is whether anyone has seen any performance test results with the new brakes. Is the stopping distance and fade resistance of the new brakes comparable to the brembos?

As happy as most will shome in to say the o5 brakse are comparable to the 04 Brembos please no that there's no comparison. My Brembos would put me through the windshield if I goose them hard enough. Yeah brake dust is a killer but when I was going 60 down a hill and this old truck stopped short I saw why they are worth every penny. I went from 60 to 0 in it seems like 3 seconds. Not saying the 05 oem brake are bad...just saying the brembos are better and will fade less.

From my experience, the '05 brakes are a vast improvement over the '03, '04 brakes. The earlier brakes very very grabby, and had very little feel. BUT, as good as they are for stock brakes, they are no match, not even close, to the Brembos. My Brembos are the best stock brakes I've ever had on an automobile, and I'm dissapointed with Infiniti that they didn't even make them an option on the '05s. It appears, from the reports that I've heard, that the the '06 "Z" will actually expand the use of Brembos in their line.

Numbers have been posted before and I believe stopping distance about the same and any difference is negligible. The Brembos however have a more linear feel and at least they do feel as if they stop better. Again I can't tell you about stopping distance. As for being more fade resistant - maybe at the track after a few hours of hard braking the Brembos will perferm excellent. Someone recently posted pictures of their OEM '05 rear pads after a day at the track and they were shot. I'm not sure if the fade resistance of the Brembos would make a big difference in daily driving. I know 3-4 people off the top of my head who had to replace their original Brembo pads at 17k-20k miles, and none of them is one to go to the track. That's not better than even the regular 03/04 5AT brakes.

As another member mentioned, it is very easy to clean the 03/04 wheels, so, I don't even worry about it. I tend to wash my car once a week and by that time the dust is not that bad. Increased brake dust levels is the trade off for high performance pads and I don't mind one bit.
Also, the Brembos are the best braking system I have ever experienced. Our non-Brembo 04 350Z has very grabby brakes and the 05 G35 that I drove was better, but still didn't have that perfect feel of the 4-pot Brembos.

I replaced the pads on my Brembos with the Hawk pads, they actually stop even better and there is almost no brake dust. However, the down side is the noise it's really bad when coming to a slow stop. But the swap was still worth it. For those who have the brake dust issue you might want to try some wheelwax. This stuff is killer.

"I went from 60 to 0 in it seems like 3 seconds."
I certainly hope you did it faster than that............88 feet per second [60 mph] should take 1.5 seconds or less [1.4 secs] to stop at 0.9 G.
The major lag is eye to brain to leg reaction time [<1 second] with Nissan enhanced maximal braking system.....
Just proves that the braking system has 3 [almost 4] times the "horsepower of the engine".........acceleration time vs braking time to 60 mph!

Hey guys: Thanks for the replies. I'm just disappointed that none of the magazines have done a recent evaluation of the G35C. I've driven G35s equipped with and without Brembos and my gut tells me that if there's a differance in stopping power, it'll be minimal.
I would imaginge that the 18 HP extra on the '05 models may also be good for a tenth of a second in 0-60, but that's just a guess. For those of you disappointed in the relatively slow performance of the 300HP G35 vs some German cars with similar HP, it's all about weight. The G35C with a manual tranny is over 3500 lbs whereas my recollection is that my 996 was around 3100 lbs. That's a hell of a differance and accounts for the fast times that a 996 has.
