Question Question about clutch.

This may sound like a ridiculous question but I'm going to ask it anyway because I want to have a clear conscience when I go this afternoon to firmly place my kenneth coles in my old service manager's rear.

Does the clutch and its operation have anything to do with the car's engine oil? I've worked on cars for years but just want to hear about this newer japanese car I've purchased.

Thanks.

From what I understood is that they were 2 completely separate components. They have nothing to do with each other, but I could be wrong.

Absolutely not! The clutch is hydraulic . It uses brake fluid to get the energy from your foot to the release fork. The hyraulic system for the clutch is not connected to any of the other systems containing fluids in the car.

Thank you. Now I will print this out, sprinkle some salt on it, and make my service manager enjoy it.

here's an article on edmunds that explains everything:
http://www.edmunds.com/ownership/tec...7/article.html

funnily enough it states a chattering clutch contains problems and should be addressed for a fix... meanwhile my local infiniti dealer states the chatter on my car is 'normal'. go figure.

Is there an Infiniti number we can call to escalate? If the clutch goes out after 20k (because of normal chattering, etc..) it's still early but at that point it's too late and it's going to make it more difficult for us to get it replaced under warranty.

i'm assuming the customer service number found somewhere inside the manual (i think at the back). are u experiencing chatter too? is that what this is about. just curious here.

Yes, at times it is fine but sometimes it sounds like a washing machine on the spin cycle after I'd dumped a few bricks into it. Honestly, I'm not hard on it. The clutch is just goofy.

Yesterday, after leaving the Ford dealer with my g/f (yes she wants a rustang gt and btw it feels like a bucket of heavy bolts) I depressed the clutch in the parking lot from a slow roll. The chatter was so loud this older couple looking at a used Hyundai looked over in surprise. How embarrassing. Maybe I should trade it in for that 5 spd Hyundai they were looking at. Argh!
