With spirited driving and stop and go with long pauses at lights, they may very well be baking on top of the fact that they are new. Yes, they need to bed in before they'll be optimal but they may also be fading in addition from lack of ability to cool. I felt this last week when in Chicago we had 100 degree days for a week straight.
