Question My New Vortech is IN! Questions??

Hi all I just got my car back from Getting my Vortech Supercharger installed. But I have a few issues

First. My Belt that came with the kit is slipping at high rpm and it feels like the car loses power and pick up and loses again. So I got the Gates belt and Hopefully It will solve the problem.Because apparently my installer says I can't tighten the gator belt anymore then it is. When it slips it sounds like A-SS going down the street. And I smell burning rubber too!!!

Second: I wen't ahead and did a dyno knowing that the belt wasn't really doing what it was supposed to do and slipping at high RPM and the best I was able to get out of 4 runs was

313.6 HP and 319.8 TQ on the same dyno that I did my baseline on a week ago.

So while slightly dissapointed I'm still hoping that once the belt is replaced tommorow that it will solve the problem altoghether and I'll get more power. Because I assume I'm not hitting full boost due to the slippage.(correct me if I'm wrong)

Third: I wan't someone to tune my SS Box because the dyno shop in my area doesn't have the software to do so. He did say if I got the software that he would take care of if for me so. But where am I going to get that? How do you get software for the SS BOX? Do you buy it? Does anyone know any shops in LA that already have the ability to tune this car for me?

The car is all stock except the Vortech S/C , 1 step colder Spark Plugs , And Mobile 1 oil.

BTW DOES THE GATES BELT #K060930 ONLY WORK WITH THE SMALLER PULLEY?

Disregard the first Dyno it was fluke and the A/F sensor wasn't plugged in.

wow, the hp is way of but if the belt is slippin the you would prob loose some power. the torque seems to be right. If i was you i would take it somewhere else to have it tuned properly, i'm sure in CA there must be lots of good shops. This is one of the reasons i'm driving to NC to have CP Racing do my install, since they've do several G's and Z's

I"ve been told that you can buy the R4 software through Vortech for $55. Just make sure that you tell them your car specifics... make, model, year, etc...

They will e-mail you the file or send you a disk (not sure which one it is).

Good luck with the belt and tuning!

I would contact Randy or one of the other guys who have Vortech's installed. Believe Randy has over 11,000 miles on his Vortech.

See this thread.

You CANT buy the software from Vortech...you have to go to Split Seconds web site and get it...or call them . SOme thing is wrong if your installer couldnt get the stock belt tight enough . Or was afraid to tighten it like it should be . You should only have less than 1/2 inch of play in it both ways . People just dont realize how tight that belt needs to be

Your A/F looks lean also...if Im looking at it right . If thats the stock Vortech tune it normaly is very rich up top . and your looks to be over 13 to1

Even if it was...over 13 to 1 is to lean . Most of the time , a tail pipe sniffer runs maybe .2 leaner than an o2 in the header.

Yes it was. the guy on the dyno said that it would be ok. I once read an article saying FI should get between 11.5 to 13.1 anyway.
