The Clutch Is Great

Ok, everyone i love how hight the stock clutch catches on this car. I've heard so many people complain about it, how it was so terrible because they couldn't work the clutch like a master right away. Well, newsflash, this is where racing clutches sit. It's great, you just have to tap that dam thing, and bam, shift, it's like a dream come true. I hate clutches you have to mash all the way to the floor. THIS CLUTCH ROXERS. Thank you

Honestly, it beats the crap out of the BMW 3 Series manual setup.

I was under the impression that a racing clutch pedal just sits low to the ground and the engagement point is almost right as it lifts off. Either way, I like the clutch the way it is. I drove and RX-8, Mazda Protege, and Scion TC multiple times and I couldn't stand how loose the pedal felt, I could hardly tell where it was engaging compared to my G, 'cause it engaged over such a long period. Stalled the protege the first time 'cause I couldn't feel anything in the pedal.

Really? I thought the G35C stock clutch was a pain to drive, engages too high, travel is too long, chatters like crazy and it's hard to engage 1st-->2nd smoothly. Not to mention the flywheel and clutch disk feel very heavy IMO. (Revving in neutral results in lazy tach movement)

The G's stock clutch engagement is weak. I had the dealership adjust mine. Stock, the clutch just doesn't feel the least bit sporty. I don't like having to barely put my foot down on the clutch to shift smoothly, it just doesn't feel right and kind of ruins the driving experience. All of the other manual tranny cars I've driven engage lower and are easier to drive. If you like the stock clutch engagement more power to you, but for everyone else I highly recommend getting it adjusted.

When I read that first part the first thing that came to mind was, "Hmm, well maybe those other cars seem easier to him to drive since they all had the same type of setup!"

So maybe its not that the setup was poor in general, rather, the setup was poor for you.

My last 2 MT cars have had the same type of clutch engagement as the G35. These cars were 1. Infiniti G20 2. Chevy C5 Corvette

driven friend's M3 many times..the clutch is hard to get used to~ first time i drove it i stalled a couple times cuz i was trying to find that engaging point and couldn't. at the 3rd time, i gave the gas a lil more push b4 let the clutch out too much..then it was fine. however, i have to say the M3 transmission was very nice.

drove Z06 vett..very easy to drive and the clutch was light. only drove it for very short period of time so couldnt' remember much now. but overall, it felt very smooth and easy to drive (cluth and transmission since when we talk bout one, we gotta talk about the other!)

drove an 04 Viper... very hard to drive cuz of the huge power and torq. not smooth like the vett. also didnt drive long (it was sorta like a test drive). the clutch was ok but the transmissoin is got to be the worst. it felt like a truck transmission. just plain terrible overall except for its great looks and power! everything rumbles and felt like the whole dashbored was going to fall apart.. afterall, its still a dodge..

S2000: just gotta be the BEST transmissoin EVER. i have said it many times and ill say it again, honda makes the best manual transmissions. nothin even come close. the clutch, well, its super light and it feels like there is no way u can stall. the travel is very light and short, which is how i like it. some people like their clutch to be heavier and higher. i think the reason of the s2k clutch been so light partly is due to the lack of torque. but anyhow, i still loves it!

Porche 911/boxter: overall, the clutch and transmission are just great too. the clutch is def heavier than say s2k, but feels very solid and easy to control. trasmission is awsome as well. my buddy disagrees with me on the clutch feel. so i guess the whole clutch feeling issue is just up to each of our own.

Z/G: the clutch is def. heavier and travels higher than both the porche and s2k. feels solid but the engaging point is higher than i would like. altho not something one cant get used to. the transmission is not bad too, but far from what you would feel from a s2k or M3.

these are just the impression of few of the sports cars i have driven, which can be a good comparison to the Z/G

clutch feels good to me. that is until it fries up and needs to be replaced because the entire tranny set up in these G's are suspect from what i've read here.

yeah, i smell my clutch quite a bit too. And i've driven quite a few manuals. Never had any problem driving them hard. The reason I like the G set up is that you don't have to have wasted travel time in the clutch when you shift. I can literally tap the clutch down 1/2 inch to 1 inch and bam, shift. It's great, for a quick shift. It makes 1st gear launches tough when you dont' want a fast launch. And shifts somewhat choppy in normal driiving, but the clucht overall has a great sport feel to it.

agreed, honda/acura def make the best MT for the price. I've driven a RSX, TSX, TL and a bunch of hondas, and the transmission was great.

I too think the clutch is great, except the chatter while trying to engage slowly from a stop.
