Do cops give you hassle for no front plate?
Re: Do cops give you hassle for no front plate?
Some of you might not have experience this but I'm sure some here has. There are cops out there who do use racial or any kind of profiling and will use any little things to stop and harass you. No front license plate or tinted windows will give them that chance to pull you over and hold you ther e for hours while they try to get you on other stuff.
Re: Do cops give you hassle for no front plate?
i haven't had any problems yet.. maybe cops don't mind if it's a nice car like ours or an MB or benz.. but you know they'll get a ricer for no front plate... just to be safe, i keep my plate under the seat.. as long as it's showing, they don't seem to mind..

Re: Do cops give you hassle for no front plate?
Let's just say I was in Highschool and the Cop didn't like the smells comming from the car and some of the Items that some of my friends were in possesion of. Ok Long story short my friends were smoking weed and I was driving, got pulled over for no front plate, cop smelled it, found stuff on them and said it was mine. I got locked up, had to get a lawyer, yadda yadda yadda, I learned not to let my friends do or have anything in the car and it cost me a lot of time money and aggravation. Hey your only young and oblivious once. But it was the front plate that got me pulled over then my stupidity that got me locked up. Live and learn.
Re: Do cops give you hassle for no front plate?
I got a ticket out here in Downtown Los Angeles for not having a front plate on my TL type S. The idiot cop on the motorcycle decided to pull a u-turn in the middle of a busy street almost causing an accident during rush hour traffic just to pull me over for not having a front plate. He says "Well it's just a fix-it ticket and it's no big deal" but my point is if it's no big deal, then why go through so much trouble to pull me over for it? I asked my friend who's an LAPD officer, and he said it's because of the increased number of camera enforced areas, and they need your front plate on there. Oh well...my G doesn't have a front plate and I don't plan on putting it on. The nice thing about my TL was that the mounting point is inside the grill underneath the main bumper area, so it's not visible ie. no holes needed.
Re: Do cops give you hassle for no front plate?
Isn't it only $21 for the first offense in Cali? Then if you pay the fine and take if off again and get caught the fine goes up. Though the car really does look 10x better without it so i'm leaving mine off. Regarding the tint, if you see a cop roll down your windows. My friend once had his limo tinted windows all the way down in heavy rain because he was stopped next to a cop heh.
Re: Do cops give you hassle for no front plate?
Funny that you mention this... the G looks so sweet without the front plate f-ing up the beautiful look.... So, when I bought mine, I asked the dealer what was up with the front plate (here in Cali)... He told me to keep it next to or under my seat and if you get pulled over, just put it up on the dash, and supposedly, they cannot give you a ticket for that... At least here in Cali.... F_uck San Francisco Police!

My experience here in austin has been that they probably won't pull you over for it, and if they do chances are you will get away with a warning. Of course there's always the rare exception where you will get an a$$hole on a power trip who will ticket you for it I guess but it doesn't happen often.
