Just one of the many prototype designs out there. I believe this is one of the earliest at that. Rumor has it that Nissan has it's different design studios competing for the design of the next GT-R. Makes sense, given the variation in designs.

That was a photophop pic. I actually recall the unmolested version of that pic. The backround is too distinctive to forget.

As for a convertible option, I'm sure they'd sell well, especially among women. A heavy sports car with reasonable power and a good chassis, suddenly dulled by the added weight and decreased rigidity, all in the name of an open top. Yep, female sales would increase.

As for me, I've never liked convertibles. Nice in theory, but I've never found the benefits to outweight the negative effects. Of course, I chose NOT to get the sunroof, mainly for a small weight savings and to avoid the creaks, along with having more headroom. Just shows you where my priorities are. I love the S2000 and would get one if I didn't need back seats... ...but my first mod would be a hardtop, preferably the lighweight, carbon fiber one available on the aftermarket.

I believe those pics were of one of the final prototypes that actually resulted in the current G35/Skyline we now have.

there's a nissan design studio in san diego, actually about 10 minutes from where I live. I've toured there and they have some sweet things in production. They didn't have any designs for the GTR but they did have an SUV, that you could move the seats around. There were 4 seats on a tracks and you could put them however you liked. Pretty cool, and it also had a 400 gb harddrive you could store "back ups" of your DVD's and MP3's.
