Speeding ticket help
Hey guys,
I'm from New York and i got a ticket in NJ for speeding (85 in a 65). Now i know that points do not go on your license for out of state violations. My question is about insurance. Does insurance company find out about my violation in anyway. I know that theyu have their own points system. Do they check nationwide?

My understanding is that now, in the United States, every state can see every other State's traffic violation information.
I am definetely certain, though, that the insurance companies know. I have friends who have gotten tickets as far away as Nevada that their insurance companies here in MI were aware of.
I wouldn't volunteer the information to your insurance company (obviously), but don't be surprised if they learn of it.
Good luck, though, I hope that they don't!

well, I went to court yesterday and i made a deal with court. Instead of 85 in a 65 prosecutor brought it down to 69 in a 65 zone. He also told me that no points will go on my New York Driver's record. I think its a good deal. All i had to pay is $133, instead $250.

Even though you didn't get points on you NY license your insurance company can still raise your rates. I got a ticket in NY about 12 years ago on a Jersey license and my insurance rates went up even though I didn't have any points on my license.
