I'm thinkin gettin g35

Hi all... this is first time i post here...
I'm thinkin getting g35 sometime this winter like dec or early jan... And looks like almost everyone waited like at least 2months to get deliver g35coupe... i really hate waiting... if i order one in dec or jan how long it will usually take?? like april? is it worth of waiting that long? plus my parents make me get AT and i really don't wanna drive manual too and guess wut i live close to DC and i have some traffic that will bother me.. so.. basically my question is, is it worth to wait that long? and i know manual runs 14.2 in 1/4 mile... what about AT?

Get a Civic, you'll enjoy it more.

If someone was buying me a $35k car.. I certainly wouldn't bitch about what kind of transmission I get! My parents bought me a car once too... a $250 wrecked corolla.. I'm lucky it had wheels!

haha... yeah.. a civic.. i hear they outperform the G by a longshot...

if your parents are buying it, does it really matter what transmission and how long you have to wait?

Oh man you guys are a big help. Ok what I would do If I were you is order the car as soon as you know when your ready to buy. Then when your ready to get it if it's not in yet start calling dealers and look for one or ask them to find a car for you. Just make suer when you leave a deposit for your order you have in writing that you can back out of it. If your lucky enough to find your car B4 your order gets in then you'll get it sooner. At least thats what I did.

As for the Auto/Manual thing. I love my 6MT but I have been driving manual for years. Hell I can't even drive and auto without screwing up at least once. As for the 1/4 mile times, unless your thinking of taking it to the track I wouldn't be concerned. Your a new driver it seems anyway you won't need the .02 seconds faster owr whatever it is. As for traffic I personally think that once you know how to drive a manual it boecomes an automatic. Traffic was never an issue for me I deal trust me when you hit a stretch of open road it's all worth it. Another bonus to driving a manual is not a lot of people know how so that's lees that you have to let drive your car.

Hope that helps, Good luck with your decsion and welcome to the forum.

GForce is exactly correct, but it'd be more fun in a civic. Or better yet, I hear the new BMW 330's are nice, especially with AWD. Just make sure to put M3 badges on the BMW's trunk.

As far as wait times go, I called my dealer on friday and he did tell me that I was lucky I grabbed that car, since there was some sort or problem at the Japan plant. Supposedly, the rest of the 03's and new 04's will be taking longer so they can sort out some quality control issues.

Re: I'm thinkin gettin g35

hello: I dont really understand why lots ppl order their car? if there are lots of different packages options colors, yes i can understand that you want excatly what you need or want...but G35C doesnt have that many options...when you ready to buy just go and lQQk around and ask dealer what they have coming in soon...thats how I got my car EXCATLY what i was lQQKing for, only waited for two hours, as i was in the dealership the truck was pulling up with my G35C DG/G ...whole two hours not two or three months, i dont think i cant stand the wait!!! good luck and hope you DO get it,i had it for two days with only 45 miles on it and i already day dreaming bout it when i was at work today couldnt wait to get in and drive, and i am sure that i had huge grin all day today at work.....s.w.

Re: I'm thinkin gettin g35

F- BMW. Are you jealous he's getting his car for free and you didn't. Why try to persuade him from getting a wonderful car. The G35 Coupe looks better and out performs most BMW's within a reasonable affordable range.

If the only thing you want is performance then get the Lancer Evolution. Bone stock it'll embarrass a G35 Coupe, 350Z, and just about anything else under $70,000. Not to mention for under $2000 the car will run near 11's in the 1/4 mile. Yes that's right. $2000 if you do the work yourself and low 12's to high 11's are possible to achieve. Not to mention base price is $29,000. The G35 Coupe is a different car. It's visually sexier, much nicer interior, more amenities and electronics, more comfortable ride, and has very good performance as well. Personally I miss feeling sexy stepping out of my car like I did in my Supra. That's why I'm selling my Evolution to get a G35c.

you won't want to get the car in winter anyway. Get it in the spring so you can enjoy it, learn everything about it, before winter weather makes you hate it.

Re: I'm thinkin gettin g35

this might not help...but i took lil drive today after work bout 40 miles, during the drive, i was thinking that how i wish i had 6 speed rather than AT and i dont even know how to drive a stick! cause it just feels right to shift for yourselfs with this car althought i havent use the sports shift yet and i am sure its very good but just dont feels right(for lack of better word).

i think AT is bout 0.2-0.3 slower that shouldnt make much difference.

by the lQQks of it...you arent too concern bout the money, so you can take your time and shop around with different cars and chose which one is best suited for you, "you" not anyone else cause you are the one going to drive it day in and day out. there is nothing bad i can say bout this car, yes there are few minor things(location of switches) but i am more then willing to live with it, cause overall this is just one wonderfull car...s.w.
