My G is damaged, I'm going to cry!!!

Picture this, driving down the road and I see a line going all the way across. Looks like a rope! I slow down and come to a complete stop. The guy next to me does the same thing. We reallize it is a two inch thick support cable that the Utility Companys use to reinforce the poles. He decides to go under it. There is more clearance on the right side, so he can. I go to back-up and call 911 so that a motorcyclist does not get decapitated and snap..... the line gives and comes flying towards my G like a huge whip from SATAN! Slam, hits the side of my G. After I realize that the line is not HOT, I jump out to inspect the damage. To my surpprise, it is confined to the drivers side door panel and my left rear rim. Looks like a series of door dings from the bottom left hand corner of the door panel to 3 inches below the handle.

No paint damage, just dings but about 20 of them

Questions
1. Do you think a Paintless Dent Repair guy can do fix it?
2.If not, replace the door and paint the door, plus repaint part of the fender and quarter to blend it in. How bad is this option and do you think I would be able to notice the paint difference?

It's a DG with 1200 miles, 3 weeks old.....

Does anyone have any tissues??? Blah Blah Blah!

1>paintless dent guy: would probably NOT look good. too many spots to repair

2>new paint would probably blend fine, since the car is basically new anyway.

my concern would be getting the Utility company to pay for the repairs and your rental car!

I understand your pain....I will let you know if blending the paint on a Black coupe to near perfection is possible on Friday. That is when I get mine back after running into a guy who decided it was a good day to slam on his brakes for no reason! I had to get the hood, right quarter panel, bumper replaced and painted. Sorry to hear about your problem......when you think about how much it sucks.....just think of what I had to go through with the front end all smashed up......I'll keep you posted.

If your body shop is competent, then the black paint will be flawless. I had to have my front bumper cover replaced and some scratches on my fenders, and the door sills replaced. All looks as good as factory.

Well, the paintless dent repair guy just spent 2.5 hours on it and could not get it perfect. You can still see some faint dashes running diagionally down the door panel. Really tried his best and was highly recommended. I tried paying him and he would not take the money. Does not charge unless he gets it perfect. I pursuaded him to come to my house and try it again. he will remove the the interior panel to get at it. I insisted that he take a $200.00 when he comes back out. He took it a a personal challenge. If tyhis does not work, I will take it to a top notch Body Shop here in South Florida to have the door replaced and re-painted. What sucks is they will have to remove some of the paint from the fender and quarter panel to blend it in with the door.

Just think, I had all my Zaino products out and was planning on giving a few coats this week-end.

Oh well, perhaps me stopping and calling 911 so that nobody got hurt will come back to me with a positive twist. I still consider myself lucky as I could have been hurt or worse yet, my 4 year old lillle boy! He was in the back seat in his booster
chair playing with some toys.

Err...dude, you need to call the utility company and have them pay for the cost to restore the car to its original condition, no matter how much it cost!

BTW - I'm glad you have a good attitude on this all too. After all, there are more important things then a car and its good to know somone took time out of their day to do the right thing (as opposed to the left thing).

Consider yourself lucky that cable hit the G and not you. Those dents on the G would have done a lot more damage on you than on a steel car door. Those cables have been known to decapitate people when they let go.

I do agree that the utility company should be on the hook for this though.
