Air conditioned seats

I really want air conditioned seats for these extremely hot days in central Florida. I've driven the new M45 and Lexus LS430 that both have the air conditioned seats and it takes all but maybe 30 seconds to a minute for them to get cool.

Since the M45 has the air condtioned seats/heated seats and we have heated seats, would there be any way to customize our seats to be air conditioned also? Any help would be great.

How do A/C seats work? Does cool air come out from the seat somewhere or is the seat cooled from the inside?

How does it work though? How does the seat get cooled? I'm not even sure how seats get heated. Are they heated through coils that heat up? I don't think you can cool the coils though right?

I don't know what you are trying to explain here. But yes cold air is circulated through the perforated leather of the seat. It is quite effective and I must say that it is a very nice feature to have.

As for installing it onto our G's I don't see it being cost effective. We do have the potential to there is HVAC outlets under the seats for the coupe that vents to the rear passenger's feet. You could potential divert this into the seats, but this still leaves the need to perforate and duct the seats probably which is not easily done without first changing the leather and the foam and reinforcing materials that make up the seat.

I don't know if the sedan vents to the rear passengers, but nonetheless you are still left with modifying the seats to allow for circulation.

Again, great feature but not cost effective. Maybe if you were to convert to M45 seats or the like, and then custom divert the HVAC to them. This is your best bet.

Good luck.

+1 sounds good to me. If we complain enough they might add them for the '07's.

I dont know what you mean. The LS430 seats dont get very cool untill the car cools off. When i leave the car out all day in the sun and get it it takes about 15 min for them to get cool

Most Mercedes have that as an option. The new SL and SLK have air condition ducts coming out on both sides of your upper booster cushion. The seat cooling menchanism is controlled by six fans in the bottom cushion and six fans in the back. It can cool your buns and back as soon as you turn it on. It works the opposite in winter. All Mercedes can retain heat inside the cabin up to half an hour after the car is shut off. Works great in winter time when you have to run short errands.

The M 45 and Q 45 also have that as an option. G is the low end of Infiniti, therefore it is not offered as an option, plus the weight redcution on the Coupe is another considering factor.
