Looking to purchase a '04/'05 Coupe..
Hello to all..
I'm a big fan of the G35 coupe, and might be in a position to be able to comfortably afford one soon. I've studied the newer and older models, done price/option comparisions, and gotten a good feel for the common aftermarket add-ons that work well with the car. I've been looking hard at the '05 6MT, and I'd consider getting an '04, but not an '03. With that said, I have a few random questions.. Forgive me if I'm long-winded.
Is the 2005 model, pound for pound, that much better than an '04? Is the powerband/drivability that different? Shift quality? Reason I ask is because I don't know what it's like riding on 19's every day. I haven't had a car yet with over 130hp. Hell, I'm on my 5th Honda.. Looking back, would any of you who got an '05 rather have saved $5-7K and gotten an '04 instead?
Does the value of the car become a question after 6 months, or does it always seem worth the money? I'm the kind of person that always looks at where my money ends up, and I've been used to the low monthly payment/debt with cars. A $30k car is a pretty big commitment, but how about in a G35? I want to reward myself for the years of suffering with the 'commuter'. I just don't want to regret buying one if anyone can give good reason. Example: Maintainence? High-octane gas? Durability? Your thoughts/experiences are welcome.
I've looked at the market, and I just don't see another car for the money (on paper) that looks like it can stand up to the Coupe. It can haul around toddlers, has power, and looks great. So, the big question is, is everyone happy with their car? Might be a dumb question, but I wanna know. Thanks and I look forward to your thoughts.

I've had my coupe for two months and I love it. I also shoped the Audi S4 and BMW 330, and I came to the same conclusion that you did. You can't beat the G35 when you look at price and performace. I also liked the S4 but I didn't like paying a $1500 gas guzzler tax, and with the way gas prices are rising, I don't like being saddled with a car that gets around 15 mpg.
I test drove the '04 G35C and my butt meter didn't detect any differance in performance between the two model years. If there's a differance I would imagine that it would be very minimal. The '04s have brembo brakes nad the '05s don't, but the interior is a little better in the '05s at leat IMO.
I've owned Infinitis in the past and they were all very durable and I don't see why the G35 won't be. It has a time tested six cylinder engine that is reputed for being one of the best around. Based on asking prices for '03 and '04 G35Cs, they seem to retain their value very well.

I wanted a 04 coupe...BUT I couldn't find one with the options I wanted at a good price that didn't allready have like 20k on the clock. For me, I was almost done my loan for my highly modded wrx and if I was going to take on a new loan, I would rather pay a little extra and get the car new...
Yeah the 04's have brembo's and I did love the way they felt, BUT I think that with better pads, rotors, fluid and metal lines you could transform the stock brakes into pretty good performers..
