Most of your braking is done with the front brakes. That's why the Front Calipers are almost always Larger than the rear.........

The reason is weight transfer. Most people think that a car's weight distribution, front to back, is a constant. Actually it changes depending upon whether you are accelerating or braking. When you brake hard, a significant weight transfer to the front occurs, thereby putting a lot of stress on the front brakes. Hence as others have posted, the front rotors are larger.
