2004 6mt

I placed an order for a 2004 6mt G35C on June 7. The anticipated delivery was late August to early September. I went by the dealer today looking to pick up my order number and received the bad news that my order was rejected as there was no allocation for 6mt's in the June order. I am now looking at an order getting placed next week (July order) and still there's no word on how many 6mt’s may be allocated.

Has anyone else heard any such information? I understand that the first groups of orders of 2003 model were the same way.

Sounds a little fishy to me! Rejected? Yeah right! I would call Nissan Customer Service and see what they have to say.
P1$$3s me off when things like this happen. Sounds more like the dealer didn't do their job!

Re: 2004 6mt

Whatever their reason is, it goes with what I learned from my dealer that there are going to be longer delays with the coupes due to some quality control issues. My salesman has been very very blunt with me and this seems like another such case. He said I was lucky to get mine when I did.

Anyway, I would follow up on it, especially if you had a deposit down and a delivery date. That's called breach of contract and you have remedies. If they refuse to deliver on that date and AFTER that date has passed, you should contact your state attorney general and file a complaint. Good luck though.

Does anyone know what the "quality control issues" are? It's a bit worrisome if those are "first year build" issues which Nissan has now decided to address (I'm thinking manual tranny for starters), implying that all coupes built thus far have those "issues". It'd be a lot more reassuring for us existing owners to know the story here. The good news would be that the issues have come up only recently, and only affect cars currently in production. I'll be crossing my fingers, hoping that that's the case.

Re: 2004 6mt

What quality control issues? I just picked up my 6MT Coupe, and its perfect. They've been producing the Skyline version in Japan for longer than they've been exporting them to the U.S., and its basically the same car on the same production line. If there was a major quality control problem, they would have halted production, and that hasn't happened. Also, the few problems I've heard of the 6MT tranny appear to be infrequent - by no means a widespread problem.

Your dealer was B.S.'ing you. Why car dealers always feel compelled to lie to customers is perplexing, but it seems the vast majority of them do. They just love to lie. His allocation on coupes probably got cut for some other reason (maybe because he lied to too many other people in the past and Infiniti got word of it), and instead of telling you the truth, he made up some b.s. story about quality control issues limiting production. That's just sad. I would really suggest you find another dealer - one that doesn't have allocation problems.

Re: 2004 6mt

Hello: they lie because they have no clue whats going on, all they see is $$$, as far for Q.C. issues might just be something minor(hopefully).

Why so many ppl here order their car? when i was "ready" i just goto a dealership and ask what they have in the pipe line rather wait for 3 mos, i waited two hours, not 3 mos, but the decision to buy it took me much longer tho.

i would go to other dealership and see what they have...good luck........s.w.
