As a G owner many of us take great pride in the looks and stylings of there vehicle. Well recently I have learned the importance of protecting the finish of the vehicle.

As luck would have it, my 2 week old coupe was the recipient of a rather unkindly and very healthy bird. If you already don't know this bird doo can destroy the paint finish on your vehicle. And I mean destroy.....

Well I check with a friend of mine who owns a very respectable body shop in the area and here's the scoop. First, you need to remove the bird doo (obviously).

How you remove it is by soaking with a cleaner, soap whatever. Let it loosen up and gently push it off the vehicle. (don't scratch the paint, this is the leading problem with bird dung). Now you will probably be left with a lovely discoloration in your paint. This discoloration can be very bad. Basically the acid in the doo will eat the clear coat of the car and could potential blister the base coat.

If the car is a black car, you maybe in real trouble. Red, you might have a chance, silver you probably o.k.

Next use mcguire quick detail/cleaner to try and gently remove it. Hopefully after 3 or 4 shots the stain will come out. (once again don't scratch the paint). If this doesn't work you can try a polish (abrasive) to clean the car, or have a pro wet sand it out, and worst case a new paint job maybe in your future.

Anyhow I spoke to him about wax prevention and he told me it might not work. However the new paint sealant will prevent it from happening. He informed me that the new paint sealant treatment doesn't need to be waxed for 2 years and they recommend against waxing.

This treatment is basically the same one the dealer offers, just not at the dealership pricing. About 50% off. He was disbeliever 2 years ago and has seen the results first hand. Plus once finished, the car will shine like a diamond.

He said it was the best protection from acid rain, birds, and among other enviromental issues.
