i'd get the 05 personally.. and i did. You can get increadable deals on the 05 now, and the BT and what not i can live without. and would rather spend the $3000 i saved on a nice set of rims.

'06 6MT release probably not until the new year, if history is any indication.

Hard to give an unbiased opinion if I like one more than the other. If I were looking to buy right now (took delivery about a month ago), I'd probably get the '05 to trim the cost, as I wouldn't be getting the Premium Pkg. anyway.

One less '05 on the road could be a good thing for me, so wait and get the '06.

Hi guys, just joined the site. I ordered an '06 6MT two weeks ago. My dealer told me to plan on an October delivery. He couldn't give me an exact price yet. I am really considering trying to locate an '05.

Lots of things to consider...of course, they haven't posted a price yet for the '06. Other than that, what would you pick, why?
Yeah, I'm in the same predicament in deciding between an '05 versus an '06. Although we just went through this past week going crazy over the pictures, I still don’t know, if anything even more indecisive. All I know for now is that I won't go off these pictures along with some of the rumors generated on this message board. I know enough that different colors will look different let alone actually seeing it in person. I feel, in many cases, the latest version corrects and improves minor problems from earlier years that are not mentioned as upgrades. I take this highly into consideration as owners and enthusiasts frequently complain of them in other posts. Therefore, I'm leaning towards the latest and greatest for now...but we'll see what they do with the 6mt (if any surprises) and how much that will cost since money is always a factor (at least with me).

As I've mentioned, the only reason the '06 would interest me is for possible mechanical revisions that might address previous complaints/problems. But we'll have to wait and see if that's the case.

I'd say that another benefit to getting the '06 is that you'd have longer to overcome the depreciation and should do better at resale... ...but that might not hold true if you can get a great deal on an '05. Frankly, I'd rather there be one less '05 on the streets.

Great responses, Thanks!!
Well money is always a factor, so I want to make a 'smart' decision as well. My company is a member of the UBS (United Buying Service)...I guess like VPP, so I'm wondering if I'd benefit getting an '06 with this deal or maybe an '05 with wiggle room and possibly the UBS thing on top that.
I'm glad I'm not the only one doing the comparisons before purchasing ('03 through '05) . I'm due. I like the changes, that they made, but nothing spectacular enough to throw me over the fence. I like the thought of Projector Headlights, but I don't know the difference since I never had them. *lol* I drive a Tacoma DblCab, so I'm indifferent there really. The spoiler is okay for '06, but if I had to choose, I'd consider the '05. I'm working now on seeing what dealers will get what I want, and for what deal...I can do this while I ponder. fyi, this is what I want.

200X G35 Coupe 6mt, Premium, Aero w/spoiler, possible nav, AND THE TRUNK MAT!!
I'm still indecisive on colors, but here's my ranking:
Lakeshore Slate, Black, Serengeti Sand, DG, IP....

lol @ the trunk mat. No deal without the trunk mat!

j/k That and the splash guards were the only options I wanted.

Keep in mind, you'll get VPP on either model and that's a discount from the manufacturer, not the dealer, so don't let them take credit for that when negotiating price. On an '05, you should be able to get a helluva discount in addition to the VPP.

talked to a dealer, and they said that their computers show that they will be receinvg their first 6mt on october and then a whole lot more on november. they say this year it won't be like last year when the 6mt come out in jan because there isn't a major update...like before, the 2005's 6mt got a hp bump...

Does anyone know when you can no longer order a custom 05 6MT ?
my local dealer can't give me a straight answer.

I test drove both a 5AT & 6MT yesterday (6MT more fun...), can't wait for a custom 06 and don't really care for the new options.

When I say "custom", I just want an Athens Blue/graphite int 6MT with NO options (no prem pkg, no painted spash guards or no damm trunk mat).
Just $300-$400 over invoice (approx $31,500).

Get a 2006. Search google for Bi-Xenon and that should convince you. The cost of upgrading older cars would be VERY expensive. Don't forget the full LED tails. The cost savings on getting a 2005 would be erased if you upgraded all the lights.

Does anyone think that the '06 Projector headlights might be plug and play with the '03-'05s? ... I really want to get the new headlights, but I am not sure if the bi-xenon flipshield will be functional unless the solenoid can be plugged into the highbeam wires.

I went to the dealeship by my house the other night, and for an auto it was 44,000, and there was nothing special about the car. It had a $4,000 fair market value adjustment and a 4,500 dealer mark up. I wish I owned an Infiniti dealership in Vegas.

I'd go with an 06 - that's what I'm going to do. The only thing I don't like is the standard spoiler on the 6MT. I just think the G is cleaner w/o it.

Good luck. I think it's too late to put in an order for an '05, but I could be wrong. And a 6MT without options... lol ...if you're not flexible on the color then you might be **** out of luck. I had to order mine (IP/Stone) with no options a few months back. It took it almost 2 months to arrive. That would put it right at the arrival date of the '06 models, so you're only hope is probably finding one on a lot or getting lucky and there still being one at port that's available for some reason.

Now the Premium Package is all you really need to avoid when looking. A trunk mat can be pulled out. Of course, if it has guards then it's already been drilled for them. I'm sure mine was a body-in-white, so to speak, so the splash guards were port-installed items and the trunk mat could have been tossed in by the dealer.

Those two options hardly made a difference in the monthly payment. Final sale price was about $32,250 or just under. They accepted my request to beat a $1500 off MSRP discount on an ORDERED vehicle and gave me $1750 off. I didn't bother with further negotiations at that point.
