same tune 2 hp less?

can someone explain to me why our 6spd has 2 less hp vs the 350Z? Im under the assumption that its the exact same engine tune, where did those 2 hp go? is it a technical issue or marketing issue? Its not that im pressed about it, 2hp is not a cause for concern or anything. Im just wondering why?
300hp does have a certain ring to it though

all engines are different. the ratings don't make much of a difference. numbers are only good off the dyno. best way to compare is to dyno the same day, same dyno, same air temp., a few runs each, and take an average

I definetly know what you mean and agree with you as far as what it meansi in the real world. Im just speaking of the factory crank rating. How come when GM moves the LS2 around from the vette to the GTO and CTS-V, the hp rating is still the same.I dont get why it looses 2 hp when moved to the G coupe. Unless they detune it on purpose.

It's all about market placement.

Nissan uses the same engine in The G35, FX35, M35, Quest, Altima, Maxima, Murano, and 350Z, yet they all have different hp ratings. Why? Marketing and application differences.
In terms of the G35 6MT and 350Z 2hp difference, it's a marketing thing. More than likely due to Intake tube differences.
Quite silly, if you ask me....

Throw in a K&N drop-in and call it 300.

300 looks like a bigger number than 298 when differentiating between "sporty" and "luxury" for sales purposes.

I will gladly take a 2hp loss to avoid the feathering issue. Money saved from tires will be enough to buy any mod that would give you +2 or more...
