2 totally different cars. G35 is a luxury rwd sport coupe. Evo is a turbo, awd rally sedan. depending on what you want is finding a balance and compromising between power and luxury. they both cost around $35k. with the G you get leather, luxurious interior, good looking dash, amenities such as auto dimming mirror, sunroof, telescoping steering wheel, 19" rims, 6 spd manual. the evo is all about raw power, the interior doesn't looks as good, cheap plastics, etc...but you do have turbo awd. which is fast until off the line and until you reach higher speeds of 80+.
ride quality is better in the G, and it also looks sexier imo. modding the evo will yield more power unless you make the G FI.
so comparing these two cars is unfair because they are not in the same class besides price. if you want an evo you should compare with the WRX STi. and if you want the G you have to compare to BMW 325 or 330Ci. there arent many sport coupes out there that compare with the G - price, power, luxury.

beware of getting flamed - use the search fuction since this topic has been discussed in great length, many many times.

 

If you care about speed, don't even waste your time with the G, unless you're willing to drop 10K+ for FI. If you just want a pimp ride to cruise in, by all means get the G.

 

Get both.

 

Get the Coupe......brute power isn't everything bro. You got to look good first.

Don't go for a MEAT HEAD like Evos and STIs. Appearance is all that matters. G is not that slow.

My 3.0L Maxima feels faster than the G coupe...

Look, its all about what you like. If you are getting the EVO cuz you gotta be fast, guess what.... THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOMEONE FASTER!

So that said, get the car you love. For me, the G puts me back in my seat, it looks damn amazing stock. It handles nicely, and is just a pleasure to drive. Everyone looks at it. The EVO is more of a toy. My $0.02.

 

I can't believe you think Maxima FEELS faster with that gear ratio. 4 speed auto right??? It feels like you started on 2nd gear. My Prelude VTEC is and feels much faster than Maxima.

I would get the G over the EVO any day ..... oh wait .. I did get the G over the EVO

 

I am going to put the 2 next to each other as soon as I find someone to drive the Maxima and a 3rd person to be the camera guy

Believe it or not, throttle-by-cable and FWD will do that. I never said it was faster. I only ran a 15.8 in the 1/4, bone stock. But it does a great job at throwing you back in your seat and no, it absolutely does not feel like it's over 1s slower than the G 0-60. Anyway, my point was, to me the G is perfect in any other aspect but it's no race car. Everyone has a different idea of what they consider fast, we don't know if speed is the OP's #1 priority, neither do we know if the G would be fast enough for him. So does your Prelude feel faster than the G too?

 

EVO is much faster, but the G catches the ladies eyes much better. I cant tell you how many stares i get from chicks. If you get an EVO you will get lots of stares from mostly only dudes, which is cool if your gay, but I personally like the females better .

I have also never had anyone tell me my car is slow, most tell me its to fast!

Evo is FAST, it's the bang for the buck performance car that doesn't look utterly ugly. The backseats and trunk are actually quite usable as well. Minimal modding will yield quite a monster. If you want speed and F&F stylez, then definitely go for the Evo. Just be careful.... a 5mph bumper scraper will destroy the front bumper and turbo intercooler. Not a pretty sight.
