I called Borla and there is no "buy group" Both sales guys said they expect the exhaust to come out in 30-60 days and they even heard about this thread and said they have no idea where this is coming from. Borla will call me and give me a heads up a week or so before the release and then they will also give me a distributor to order from. Wish you luck.

 

Interesting, I called Brent today and he said it is ready to ship but he needs 25 ppl for the group buy...

There's a simple way to confirm. Track down some of the people who did the group buy for the Z's Borla through him. I do think the "ready to ship now" part is someone's misunderstanding. It's more likely "ready to order from Borla now." But Borla will deliver to dealers faster than it'll offer systems to private individuals (so they don't immediately cut into the dealers' sales). In any event, the words "ready to ship now" never came up in our conversation over the phone. That doesn't even make any sense. If he'd already bought them from Borla, why would he do a group buy to distribute them? You do a group buy so that you can safely order the systems from the manufacturer in bulk at a lower price without worrying about getting stuck with them in storage unsold.

He makes custom exhaust systems...what's to say he doesn't just have a great hook-up on 350Z systems and makes the extension pipes so that they fit the G35 himself and saves a few bucks? I really don't care as long as they fit.

The exhaust will not ship until the 19th or after that date from what I understood. He did a group buy for the 350Z exhaust and had 35 satisfied buyers. He is making little to no profit on this deal. Hopefully he'll get a few installs out of it...he also earns my respect for wanting to help out car enthusiasts like ourselves.

 

I specifically asked him that very question and he said, "No, these are the G35 true dual, stainless cat back systems directly from Borla."
