Re: Borla dual exhaust group buy.

Brent's a busy guy and not inclined to chit-chat, and no I didn't ask any other questions about other mods. Did ask what they would charge for an install, and he said $70. My choice for a shop in Northern CA would charge $75. If I do the install there, perhaps I can get them to match the LaBree MotorSports price. :-)
He did say that dyno results vary considerably, as caused by whole host of factors. Since they are not cheap, no one is going to run a whole series of these tests, unless you got a pot of gold to burn.

I assume they aren't taking orders anymore, right? Damn...well for future reference, does anyone know any places in the MD area where I could get this installed?

Re: Borla dual exhaust group buy.

Yes, you are correct.......the last of the orders were taken on the 19th (Sat.) mine being one of them....good thing I cam home around 3 Pm PST, cause the quit taking orders at 5pm and I JUST caught her message. So, we should have the exhaustsby the end of the month as I understand it.
Now for the Borla header! Real dumb that Borla didn't make a down pipe with the headers...but not to fret Lebree Motors is gonna include one in the group buy....not sure when it'll happen though.

Re: Borla dual exhaust group buy.

Yeah im having second thoughts and the amount saved on the group buy isn't really that much to warrent the wait. I'm probably gonna call later and get the refund if they still haven't recived the exhausts yet. I feel kinda bad but don't at the same time. Most likely I aws gonna sell the Borla if I did recieve ti anyway so this just saves me the trouble. The stillen is lookin kinda nice, expensive though. I want to see the results from the exhaust shootout as well. We'll see how it goes.

Re: Borla dual exhaust group buy.

I got to test out a borla from an associate working at Options Auto Salon, must say no big notice on power gains and sounds the same as stock, didn't like it and just replace it with a Injen Super SES, I definetly love the Super SES a lot more than the Borla, right away I feel the power gain on all RPM range, and love the deep strong exhaust note... I really think you guys would like the Injen Super SES a whole lot more... Just a thought..

Re: Borla dual exhaust group buy.

I spoke to Brent and he is definitely picking them up today or Monday. He said mine will be at the house by a week from tomorrow. He said that he was at borla 2 days ago to pick up some Audi exhausts and checked on our G's status. Borla just finished our order and they are ready for him to pick them up. He said today or Monday he is picking them up.

As sh!ty as there customer serivce is I heard Stillen is still the best HP for your buck... But I'm gonna wait till Greddy... Some guy on the Forum is saying the Borla's were a waist of money.. I dunno... Guess I'll wait for Greddy to come out with what they got or Ingen exhaust... I'm patient (only because I'm broke) lol....

Re: Borla dual exhaust group buy.

Ok i'm out now. I let them keep the 2% or whatever I mean it only works out to $16 anyway. If it were a large distributor I would tell them what to do with their 2% but it's not so I dont care. Besides i was going to sell the borla anyway so them being late in picking them up made it eaiser for me in the long run I may have lost more than $16 so this works out good. Now for more resaerch!!!

That makes 2 of us. I cancelled as well. I was disappointed with the looks of the tips and that it wasn't polished. Oh well. Anyone know if Stillen is polished?

Re: Borla dual exhaust group buy.

Yup I'm pretty sure they are...

I went to the Stillen Day up here in Cali and the exhausts were looking nice... All shiny and good lookin... And out of all the Dyno's I seen there Live in Person it seemed Stillen had the upper edge... Some exhausts from other vendor's even made the G and Z lose HP...

The Stillen guys or worker's even helped me get my Intake and hooked me up with a 30 dollar discount.... Even a few pointers about when I get my installed my intake... I guess it's different when Customer Service is helping you out in person rather then on the phone or something...

But with Ingen and GReddy out there lurking over every exhaust that's already out in the market is trying of course to get the best HP out of the G so I'm gonna wait hehehe...

Re: Borla dual exhaust group buy.

I'm amazed at how fast you guys jump ship from one boat to the other. 4 weeks ago, Borla was the greatest thing since sliced bread, now, because "some one" got little to no gain, a bunch of you are jumping off. Now suddenly Stillen is so great, when the same people just a few months ago were saying that $1200 is way too much to pay for an exhaust.

What happened to the Borla supporters who said they loved their Borlas and the people who posted the sound clips everyone loved so much? Did the sound suddenly change back to stock on everyone overnight?

H-Y-P-E, group mentality at its finest. There's nothing wrong with the Borla exhaust, there's nothing wrong with the Stillen. Pick the exhaust you like, and buy it. All this ordering and then cancelling isn't doing anything but discouraging people like Brent from ever offering great prices on group buys again. If you can't wait an extra 2 weeks or so, then you'll probably want a new exhaust 2 weeks after you get XXX brand installed anyway.

Re: Borla dual exhaust group buy.

For what I was saving on the Borla it wasn't worth it. Mind you a lot of us went into this group buy blind with hopes of saving a few hundred bucks and getting a nice exhaust. Since there have been more reviews and none of them good from what I can tell, and the looks of the exhaust itself did not impress me personally why shouldn't I take the oppurtunity to change my mind? I thought I was getting an exhaust that was of the same caliber of the Stillen ehhaust but as it turns out to me it seems like it's just a different version of the stock exhaust and last I checked I had one of those on there. As for Brent I dont think he will be too discouraged I mean he did get his money back that it supposedly cost him to take the order. Besides it seems to me that the majority of the "Group" is sticking with their decision. As for me I learned to put a little more thought into the decision to buy this stuff and not rush in trying to save money.

Re: Borla dual exhaust group buy.

Nas4a, You're bound to get some peeps changing their minds for various reasons, can't be avoided.
As you said the majority will stick with it and be happy with their choice.
From the Yuichi's shootout, the Borla was about tied for highest hp, and down some from the best on torque. Style wise, Borla is as good as it gets, (IMHO), altho a 'polished' rear muffler would have been nicer. (A little emery cloth and muscle will put a shine on it)
Us Borla supporters are still here bro. I've got mine now (not from group buy), and will install this week.
