Debadging Question
sorry, dont mean to jack your thread, but i've had my g for about a year now and would like to debadge the g35. it's so asymetic the way its laid out. can i do this or will the paint under the g35 look fresher then the rest of the paint? opinions? btw - my car is twilight blue. not sure if this changes anything or not...
you really hate debadging enough you have to roll your eyes!
i dont like the way the badging is laid out. i am a symetry freak. if everything were symetrical, i wouldnt mind.
FU HTML. the "pre" tag is worthless...i would throw some nbsp in to make it look ok, but i dont have the patience...

spray down w/ citrus gunk/adhesive remover, let sit for 5 minutes, then use dental floss (or fingernails) to remove. use citrus spray to remove any remaining gunk. shouldn't notice any color dif or fading. will take about 15 mins for "I N F I N I T I" and "G 35." I left the Mt. Fuji, because I think it looks nice.

Is citrus spray good for the paint though? I mean I'm sure it's environmental friendly but none the less, the acidity levels in that much be up there. It'd be like having 100 lbs of bird poop dumped on your ryde. Imagine what it'd do to the paint.
Use Goo Gone. It's safe. After removing the lettering, just put it on a 100% Cotton/Made In The USA towel and dab it into the remaining adhesive. If you have to rub it off, do so gently. Just wash Goo Gone from the area and wax/polish afterward.
I have debaged many cars now, and here is my advice.
If you use the dental floss method it will still leave fine scratches because after all the dental floss is nylons. Best method that will not leave any mark is as follows.
heat the lettering with a blow dryer or leave the car out on a hot hot day. masking tape the area, then ren sewing thread. now instead of getting the trea d as close to the paint as possible try to get the thread that is between the adhesive and the plastic badge and start with a slow left and right motion to get it seperated. You will be left with the sticky stuff on the car. Now use some wd40 and spray on it. let it sit for about 20 mins and wipe should come off. If there are still some left spraf some more. and wipe. after all that there will be some shadowing no matter what. just clay bar it then polish and wax with your favorite brand. I use ziano and is perfect after that. I am at work so i don't have any picture but if you do a serach of me you should find the post i had after i debadged it.
