Question Oil Pressure

Sucks that we don’t have an oil pressure gauge. I was thinking of getting one, but I don’t want an A pillar pod, I’d like to put it in an inconspicuous place, just so I can monitor it. Cool if there was an electronic box that would allow me to monitor multiple sensors (oil press, coolant temp, etc),but not crazy $$

Any ideas?

Hey, the 350Z has gauges, are there taps on the G for this?

Thanks!!

that seems like a really great idea. Can you put a digital A/F guage on a NA car or would it be pointless. I'm sure there's a OBDII computer program wehre you can tap into it and use a laptop to monitor on occasion

Do we not have it because our car is a near 'luxury' car and we wouldn't need it?

I kinda like those 3 gauges that the Z has, because it makes you feel more in tune with your car and less of just a person behind the wheel of car.

The people that have the nav might be able to buy the hks camp setup and tap into the nav display.

Camp is basically a digital gauge setup, you would need the brain and what ever sensors...Not sure if hks pulled got a clue and finally lowered the price on that thing though?

is it true that the G only has an oil lever sensor (to trip the idiot light), where as the Z has an oil pressure sensor?

I have an OBDII scanner and i can't read Oil Pressure, i can read coolant though

Welcome to the world of CYBERDYNE & NORDSKOG! They both make a complete line of digital gauges!

I like the Nordskog ones which are avialable in red or green (led) and have a black blackground (go black when not on). Their oil pressure gauge is $60 and requires a special oil pressure sender which will set ya back another $30. These are round gauges, but I've seen many people take them apart and incorporate them into their dash and or console...

You can get them through Summit racing Equipment (summitracing.com). Summit also sells their own DIN sized panel with three black face digital gauges (volts, oil pressure & water temp) for $130. You will need two senders, one for the oil and another for water temp...

Hey Ducati, Thanks! Yeah i was actually lookign at the Cyberdyne. Would you know wher we have to tap/install the sender? If there's no predrilled hole/capped hole somewhere, i was thinking of getting a sandwich plate between the oilfilter/block and mount the sender there. Like this:

Greddy Oil Block Adapter

That's a sweet little adaptor Greddy makes! I guess it would work...

Otherwise, somewhere on the engine there's a factory oil pressure switch (has to be), all you would need to do there is "T" off a line, connect the sending unit, run your wires, and you're good to go...

Cool, thanks.

Does anyone know if we have an actual "oil pressure switch" or oil level switch(no pressure) and has anyone tapped into this?

What is more important? Oil pressure or Oil Temperature? I'd think that oil temp is more important to see if you're cooking your oil during hard driving.

Someone put some gages in his upper glove box (he didn't have NAV), and angled them towards him. I think they might have even popped out for better view, since it is kinda far away.

sending unit

The factory oil sending unit is located right next to the oil filter. You can just replace it with the new sending unit,or you can get a "t" adaptor & use both sending units, that way the factory light will still work.Although you will need to get an adaptor for the threads, because Nissan use's a different thread than aftermarket sending units. These 2 parts will cost you less than $10.00 .They can be bought at any performance shop that sells braided hoses & fittings, such as Earl's.The hardest part is running a wire thru the firewall, driver side only way

I think that they are equally important. Usually most cars come with an oil pressure gauge. I have both in my Stang. I look at it this way
high oil pressure=low oil temp under most conditions and vice versa. Either way low oil pressure and high oil temps can cook your motor.
