Easiest way to claybar
The worst part of waxing a car is claybarring it. I swear it takes the longest. Inch by inch with a 3 inch bar. MY GOD!
1. Is there a quicker way?
I'm using the zaino claybar. Those suckers are 16.95!!
2. What alternatives have the zaino guys used?
3. Won't it be the same using any other claybar along with the whole zaino process?

just got to tough it out. clay is clay, so any bar will do, but i don't trust the really realy cheap ones, go with brand name. they're $9.99 at autozone. be sure you're using a lubricant. either detailing spray or water/shampoo mixture. the bar should glide across your paint. if not you need more lube.
If you have a DA buffer like the Porter Cable you can get a foam pad holder from Griot's Garage that holds a clay bar. Thoroughly wet the foam pad and the paint surface and then use the buffer just like you would to polish or wax. Works great
I would not suggest using the porter cable for claybar.
Claybaring is a process in its own. Takes time and effort but the results are worth it. I do it 3-4 times a year. Followed by a good wax such as carnuba. I also try to polish/wax the car in between to keep the paint protected.
You just gotta be a man and do what you must. I use mother claybar and lubricant. Works just as great as zaino. My friend uses zaino and i just dont see what the big deal is about. My car looks just as polish and just as good.
Porter cable buffer is only good to apply glaze/polish/wax i always take it off by hand.

Just do it by hand. It really doesn't take that long unless if you've got a lot of crap in your paint. Don't waste the Zaino Z6 though by using it as lube, use Z7 + water and use lots of it. Also, you only need to use half of one of the Zaino claybars at a time.
1. You can't clay a car with a machine ... If you can .. I never heard or saw it done ..... & I detail cars on the side .. I would never
2. Clay is not clay... there is different textures/coarse types of clay
3. When done right it should only take you 15 to 20 minutes
4. 1 bar should last for 3-5 cars depending on the condition of the car

I guess I have to do it by hand and spend 1+ hour. I had my car since the end of july. I claybarred it once and zainoed it once. A body shop also helped me polish my car once. That claybar part is just a turnoff for the whole waxing process.

Just spray the lube mixture of your choice in a 3'x3' section and glide the clay over the area .. you should not be rubbing the clay like a mad man ... on a car in your condition it will take no time ... you don't have to take for-eva with the clay .. just work each section 1 minute at a time ..15 minutes ... done
