G35 have cult that matches the Supra?
In it's early production, the Supra cost upwards of $30K, a lot of money for a car in 1993. In stock NON_Turbo form, the G35c crunches it! Non turob MK4 Supras only have about 230 HP and 90% of them seem to be automatics. When I drove one, I was very unimpressed. But a TT MK4 with BPU upgrade is awsome! The G35c is light years behind it in performance and durability.
You gotta love those MK4's
. But, all of them are used and most have been abused. There is no trunk space, no real back seat, and thus they are more of a purists sports car than the G35c will ever be.
Do I crave a MK4 Supra TT with BPU? You bet! Can I afford a MK4, and keep my G35c? Absolutely. But for reality driving I will stick with my G35c 6mt and dream of the quick silver MK4 TT MT.

okey heres WHY:
iono the exact year and stuff like that.. but supras had a very bad lower block when their Turbo version came out.. after that Toyota decided to make everything in the bottom end from forged steal.. i believe the crank is also made outta forged steal? (which is a few thousand $ for us to make) so for a supra to become a race car is just as easy as swaping stock turbos for bigger turbos.. and because of their internals they can push a few hundred HP on stock internals with some minor mods..
go read more about the history of supras but its something like that...

Your there Klumzyee
It is the 1987 to 1992 MK3's Supras that have the notorious BHG (blown head gasket) problem. The N/As of that vintage seem to hold up well, but the turbo's suffered BHG's after 60K mi in stock form. Many people rebuild these cars with special head gaskets and ARP bolts to increase their durability. As far as I know, the bottom ends and top ends of the MK3's are solid, just not the head gasket. (With FI, there is a strong temptation to up the boost.) It was a design flaw that Toyota corrected and over compensated for in the MK4 Supra, to everyones absolute joy!

The Supra did not sell very well due to the price making it very rare in the used market. The G35c do not suffer this problem and when it "will" be discontinued, there will be plenty to go around.
The Supra TT was truly a awesome car. The car was bpu and it pulled harder than any car ive ever been in. The funny thing was out of my friend's supras, my was the slow slow one. The rest of these guys are pushing 690rwhp+. The motor doesnt even need to be built for that...the current record for most hp on a STOCK block is over 1000rwhp...the record before that was 980rwhp and daily driven.
It'll be a while (maybe never) before another car with that sort of technology comes out again. I mean, not many cars back in 93 can still look and perform with the best of them today...that engine was seriously bulletproof.

its not really g35 vs supra IMO, its more like Skyline vs Supra. A battle that has been waging forever. G35 can go up vs the NA supra while the upcoming GT-R can go up vs the tt supra.

Sad to say the G35 will never approach the following of the Supra. Biggest reason for me...the forged 2JZ engine. Everyone knows forging is stronger and better than casting. The 2JZ goes and goes and goes. On top of that Toyota made the rest of the car as reliable as a Corolla. You got exotic car performance with compact car reliability, you can't buy that anywhere today. Just a little modding gave it the exotic looks to go with it and you have the perfect package.
I'd say the fanaticism (sp) of the G35 follows along the lines of the Skyline's Most of us here knew the Skyline came to the US rebadged by Infiniti as the G35. (well I did at least *S*) But since Supra's group was worldwide (including the US), Supra's fan base is much higher.
I'm a fan of both, and I'd LOVE to run across a Supra for myself.
