Post G35 have cult that matches the Supra?

If you look at the following of the 93-97 Toyota Supra...it is really out of this world. The car's value has actually gone up in value over the past five years. Part of that is because they are no longer available, but a lot of that has to do with the following the car has.

My question is....is the G35 the new Supra?

not anywhere close to compare. the MKIV supra is one of the best cars ever made to rival the skyline GTR. you can compare those two but not the supra to the G35.

I don't think he's making a comparison between the G35 and Supra. He's asking if the following behind the G35 is on its way to being Supra-like in strength.

Its not the name...its the performance. The G35 is a decent performer while the Supra is LEGENDARY. The tuning potential of that car was staggering and it was a very very rare car. The G35 will not be even close.

dont forget about the 98s man. the quicksilver(one of the rarest colors) was only produced in the 97 and 98. damn i no so much bout those cars.lol. but yea...it is my fav car. call me crazy but id take it over a srt-10 viper anyday or almost any exotic. wish i could trade my car in and buy one, but i cant.

oh, and no way the G will reach the status of the supra. i see 20 Gs every day and 1 supra a month if im lucky. a 350hp TT G from the factory would be sweet and make for better odds.

Well, the G35C is definitely not as famous as the mighty Supra, especially after it's appearance in THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS! Now the Supra cult is beginner than ever, whilst when ricers see the G35C they think "why didn't you buy a 350Z?"

As far as tuner market goes, the Supra has a rock solid 2JZ block that has few equals. (the RB26DETT, N/A in NA) Until we start seeing more 500hp (many), 700hp(TINMAN+), 900hp(WhiteG35C) G35C around, I don't think we will get too much recognition from Import Tuners.

Will the following be as strong? Probably not.

If it went out of production, maybe that would help. If it were a little more exclusive, that would help too.

I still think we are a notch below with the g35c, and they are overly available.

I said I would give the G about 2 years and if I have alot of problems I'm selling and buying a Supra! Since there aren't alot of good looking sports cars out today (my opinion) and the 06 Coupe got hit with a bag of nickels our cars may become more popular and valuable. Since we are on the subject what is the best Supra forum?

supraforums.com is pretty good...

The G is not the ledgend that the Supra is. The new Supra, when it comes back, will have a heck of a lot to live up to. I'm not sure how they will accomplish that without jacking the price way high. Although they are speculating that the entry level version of the Supra is supposed to compete with the current Z in performance and the 4.0 litre V8 is suposed to compete with the semi exotics.

I guess we will see. I am interested in what Toyota will do with it as a potential replacement for the G in the 07 or 08 model year. They have an opportunity to really produce something good learning from the successes and failures of Nissan, and Mazda.

I know exactly what you are talking about this, i had the same conversation with a friend. But to be honest, i think the Z is somewhat close to waht the supra created. They didnt built that many supras which makes it special. Also the supra was thought of as kind of a super car that was affordable to most people.
