Ok, so i've read through a number of posts on the advantages of ECU reset, but I have a couple of questions. Yes, I'm fairly light on the techie side of cars, so bear with me.

1. Resetting the ECU defaults the "car" to aggressive driving. Why doesn't the car come this way from the beginning?

2. If the ECU is reset, then will a slow driving day switch it back to fuel economy driving, or whatever?

3. If I reset the ECU, will i have to reset it again in the future?

I have a '05 AT coupe. I drive aggresively 80% of the time. Do I car about the ECU?

You want the car/ECU to remember this anyway... It will remember how you drive and program it the way.

Also if you disconnect the battery for 15-20 mins it will erase the memory (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

1) Resetting the ECU does not put it into "Aggressive driving mode". It puts the car but into it's factory setting.....which answers the 2nd half of this question.....the car DOES come this way.

2) Yes.

3) Yes. I end up resetting mine every 1-2 weeks. Driving in the city with bumper to bumper traffic will cause the ECU to go into what I call "grandma mode". Reset it every week or so. This may be overkill, but I tend to over-do everything.

I thought all of that resetting stuff was just a myth.

+1 I should reset my ECU, the break in period of my car probable made the ECU think i don't have what it takes to go all out.

Also is it bad to keep resseting your ECU every 1-2 weeks? Also do i have to aways give aggersive driving for my car to be "quicker/aggersive" when i push down on the throttle?

Yes you'll notice a diff if it's too far gone into 'Granny mode'.....What's unclear is how quickly the ECU learns aggessive driving and comes out of 'Granny mode' by itself.

What you could do is this: Drive around very conservatively for a day or 2 to put it in granny mode. This obviously would take some self control.

After boring yourself to tears for a day or 2, go home and do the pedal method of the reset or the 12 hr battery disconnect method both procedures can be found HERE IN FAQ/DIY . This will erase the slow mode and go into a neutral mode which will learn aggressive driving much quicker.

I can't see the advantage to keep resetting the ECU very often. If you don't granny the ride for days on end, it won't learn the slow mode, therefore not need to be reset.
I've not heard a thing about damage done by resetting. As far as I know, it's safe. JMHO.
