Bush may mess a lot of things up, but he has nothing to do with katrina, or how we aren't drilling Alaska.

I honestly wouldnt mind a hybrid sports car to save fossil fuels and our air if it's sporting characteristics were identical to my vehicle now. But thats the problem, they wouldn't be. And it takes the fossil fuels to power the factories and production of the batteries or hydrogen for fuel cells therein. And the batteries in hybrids eventually cannot be refreshed and become a waste product anyway. Its a lose/lose for now.

FYI...
If you have a AAA credit card you can get a fuel discount...and Sams Club discounts their fuel a few cents too ($0.08 yesterday). I'm sure Costco and similar bulk stores do the same.

Also ck out:
GasPriceWatch.com
or
GasBuddy.com
and

That would be nucking futs. I'm sticking to major-sucking-of-gas for now. Dang Priuses look like a rollerskate and prob handle like doggie doo in the hot sun.

BTW, wouldnt those things get even beter mileage if they had manual trannys?

I'm not a Bush supporter per se, but I'm not sure what people expect him to do about gas prices. There was a time not so long ago when the government dictated below-market gas prices and it resulted in disaster - those who remember or have at least read about the Carter presidency can probably attest to that.

I remember Cliton tapped into our oil reserve to control the rise of gas prices.

I doubt Bush would do the same, the higher oil goes, the more moola his buddies from Texas makes.

How's demand to drop? There isn't that much flexibility around people's gas usage. Granted people can do things on the margin like carpool or take public transportation, but gas demand is fairly inelastic. (not trying to be a jerk, just pointing out some observations) I feel really bad for people who's job is dependent on delivery and those types of things, this really sucks for them. we're all fortunate to be able to afford our cars and the gas that goes along with it

Up$, up$ and away. Hang on kiddies, this is going to be one expensive ride, which the oil companies are taking us on.
