Meaning its not dot matrix and the display looks like it came straight out of a 1989 Nissan Maxima.

I've been comparing the G35c to the usual suspects (BMW, Acura, Audi, etc.) and really like the 'total' package offered by the G35c. The bi-xenon lights was another dealbreaker which has now been addressed. However, again - the really 'out of place' radio display has been the only thing holding me back.

Does this bug anyone else?

thats way too picky...stereo isnt awesome on them but you can put a nice flush indash navigation dvd system in the dash and remove alll that "dated" stuff. I think the 05+ radio is actually pretty nice compared to my awesome 04 one. you wont get a better deal than a G35c

I'm not typically an "aftermarket" guy - but I would certainly consider it. I've had sound systems installed in my past vehicles... WAY back in my younger days - but those were hondas and an E36 bmw - fairly easy to work with.

Did you do the install yourself? I would have to get a shop to do it.

Is there a difference between the 04 and 05 display?

I agree that the G35c is undoubtedly the best bang for the buck when compared to others in its class. BTW, the 06 is all wheel steering, not all wheel drive, correct?

when i drive home from work and it's sunny i can't see the display at all. very annoying... the light hitting the stereo reflects all the orange crap underneath and everything looks the same. i gotta put my hand over the stereo just to see what's on the display. anyone else have this problem? my stereo has also started to skip on all my cd's. two thumbs down . i think it's time for a swap.

G35 Sedan is available in all wheel drive. G35 coupe has rear active steer as an option on the 6MT models, not standard.

It's a Pioneer AVIC-D1
You should be able to find one for about $1400
plus the DDIN dash etc.
There's a couple of good threads with lots of info HERE and HERE
