'05 6MT Rev Light off?

Two days ago, I finished the break-in period so now I can floor it real good (thank god!). I set the rev light to 6500. According to the manual, the light should start flashing at 6000 and stay on at 6500. When I had it at 4000, it did light up at 3500, however, now that its in 6500, this mechanism does not work. The light starts flashing a little past 6000 rpm (like 6300) and stays on just a little bit before reaching 7000rpm. This sort of defeats the purpose of having the darn light. I dont care if it works when rpms are low, but if I set it to 6500, I want it to work.

Does anyone else's light is screwed?

I have my rev light set at 7.0 and it works exactly like it's supposed to.

Why do you have the light set for 6500, anyway? You're dropping out of the optimal power range on the upshift, which is more detrimental than the slight loss of power you see by taking it to redline.

The light starts FLASHING 300-500rpms from the point you set it to

so lets say u set it at 7k it'll FLASH at around 6.5-6.7 - this is to let you know its ALMOST time to shift

then it'll turn SOLID at whatever point u set it to

if u set it at 7k it'll become a solid red light at 7k..

At 8k you turn off the rev light, but the "REV" letters themselves will stay on no matter what.

The manual says it starts flashing 500 rpm before the set one. When I had it set at 4k rpm, it did flash at 3500. Now that I set it at 6500, it starts flashing at 6200 or 6300 and stays on at almost 7k instead of staying on at 6500. My guess was because when I had it at 4k, I didnt floor it as hard as now.

is this a feature only on the 05s? Or is it also available for the previous years too? If so how do we set this?

no this is only available on the 05's. Us older models need to use good old fashion drivers skill.

the words REV cannot be turned off. The rev red flashing light can be. Read your manual, its there.

The word REV is always on, the red blinking light flashes when you're 500 rpm from what you set it at and the red light is solid at the rpm you set. I figured that out on the way home from the dealer. I'm at 300 miles (it's been 2 days) so I don't know if I have your problem, but I think you should make sure it's working again.

It's the most worthless pos I have ever seen on a car. If you need it to let you know when to shift, you should buy an automatic.

page 5-16/17 of my manual. i've read somewhere on this forum that some owner's received '04 manual's in their cars. u should check that out because it should be in your manual. i've attached the pages for your convenience.
