you will have to take off at least the inner wheel fender. You're also going to have to take your existing intake out, and that takes time and effort too. No one said modding was going to be easy

I'm reading your post over and over, but I really don't understand your logic. How would the heat shield do anything to create a steady, constant stream of air VS. any turbulent air that might normally be present? From looking at the posted pics (thanks for those btw) seems like all it does is preventing the filter from sucking in as much air as possible...

From what I've been told and from my own testing... I think what is happening is, as you go past 60 and take the load off the engine, too much turbulent air is getting through the filter into the intake pipping and causing the MAF to go crazy... This wont happen if the car is in gear or if you're giving it some gas (even to speeds beyond 60) because the car is sucking in the air so it is less turbulent. All the heatshield does is prevent the filter from getting hit directly from the outside air. Less turbulence = no stalling.

I have had no problems with my injen CAI and it sounds sick! I installed it in my driveway - no jack and did not take off the bumper. Just open the wheel flap and you can install perfectly!! I also bought it from a company on this site for $240 shipped
