How would the heat shield do anything to create a steady, constant stream of air VS. any turbulent air that might normally be present? From looking at the posted pics (thanks for those btw) seems like all it does is preventing the filter from sucking in as much air as possible...
I have had no problems with my injen CAI and it sounds sick! I installed it in my driveway - no jack and did not take off the bumper. Just open the wheel flap and you can install perfectly!! I also bought it from a company on this site for $240 shipped
