If it has happened beacuse of the Z-Tube too, then maybe it could have something to do with not the fact that its an "aftermarket" part.. but this problem could be due to improper installation. CAIs arent a 100% perfect fit & finish and design like the stock G-Tube is to the car, and Z-Tube is (give or take a few % due to improper installation lessens the chance of this problem as compared to CAI's)

 

Mine was due to the fact that too much air was coming in. I did the install myself and its really hard to mess it up. As the CAI is such a simple thing to install.

 

you guys think this is why my car starts but shuts down after being driven a little while. ill start my car...go to nearby gas station, and start it again, it'll fire up but putter out and die on ME !! WTF..

i have a 5at and a z tube/popcharger..i thought it was the heat from the cali summer but its really cold now...i dont want to take out my ztube/popcharger combo...ima going to miss the sound...

 

This is what I see. My suggestion is to take it out, put in your old set-up and see if it still happens. If not, then you know it's the Z-Tube/Popcharger. I was almost going to do this setup too but after reading about people cars stopping while they are driving, I am waiting to see what people find out and see if this can be fixed. Just to get maybe a few HP and better sound isn't going worth the risk of the car stopping while it's moving!

also...ive had it in for awhile now (1 year)...shouldnt it have been doing this right from the start...

Check out the other threads. I think one member had it happened a couple of times per year. I think it doesn't have to happen alot but once is enough for me. Funny, I had an Isuzu Rodeo that did that and I didn't even have any mods on it. I would do it like once every 4-5 months but usually while I'm turn and there is no power to the damn steering wheel so I always freak out! All I can say is that I don't want that to happen to me. If you like the sound, maybe just get some Exhausts. They sound way better then swapping out the Intake. I heard that the exhausts makes some decent gains too.

 

I also had the pop charger and z tube and my car started to stall after one day. I have 5at. 2004. Funny thing is that my car stalled on the freeway before I installed the intake and I took it to the dealer and they said it was the air sensor or something. So this could happen even if you dont have an intake. I would take it out and put stock back in and drive for awhile... GL
