The thing that really sucks is that its very unlikely that the wire is adding the current.
Typically when wire goes bad its in one of two ways - open, or short. An open wire will read 0amps, a shorted wire will read 6-800 amps. I can't think of a condition that would read 17amps! It really seems to me that if the motor blower was only causing a problem in the 'high' position that it would be easier to find the wiring issue then replace the ENTIRE harness.
Does the vehicle have Navi? Now would be a great time to add it if it doesn't!!!!

Finally finished it today!
What a pain in the A$$ this car was. Well, everything is working fine and not one squeek or rattle. hopefully it will stay like that.
